"What creature do you think she is?" I was putting plates on the table when I heard Heath's voice while cooking.
Pierre, who was washing the dishes, was the one who answered. I just listened to them, minding my own business. "She's giving me a mermaid vibe, sa totoo lang."
"Could be. She was talking to a mermaid when I saw her near the coast. Maybe she is." ani Heath.
I interrupted them. "Talking to a mermaid doesn't make her a mermaid, too. Don't be stupid." sinamaan ko sila ng tingin. "But I think she won't be a creature. Just a normal human, maybe?"
"E bakit naman siya papapasukin dito kung tao lang siya?" nagpunas ng kamay si Pierre. Tapos na siya sa first batch ng hugasin, mamaya pagkatos kumain ang last batch. Pauso ni Pierre ang batch para raw ganahan pa siya maghugas.
Kumibit-balikat lang ako. It was just my hunch. Naalala ko bigla ang sinabi sa amin ng principal.
'If there is doubt, oracles shall not let another oracle make them feel they do not belong. Trust me, for they are one of us.'
At doon ang nanggaling ang 'You are one of us.' na sasabihin daw namin kay Kaiane, utos ni Heath. Iyong mga sabay-sabay naming sinasabi? Sa kaniya ang huling desisyon palagi.
For some reason, Principal V won't tell us what she is. Of course, she already knows what they are. That's why she is sending some "humans" to Creature Campus. Ang hindi namin alam ay bakit kailangan niyang itago? Why not let them know, and why are they here in the first place?
And believe me, most creatures here have the same question as me. A bowl of food was placed on the table, interrupting my thoughts. I looked at it and, at the same time, smelled it.
"Creamy beef with mushroom," tatanungin ko na sana siya kung anong tawag sa ulam dahil unang beses pa lang namin ito nau-ulam. "Kaiane's request."
Kumunot ang noo ko. Tinanong ko siya kanina kung ano gusto niyang kainin pero sabi niya ay kahit ano. Hindi ko rin nakitang pumasok si Heath sa kwarto. Hindi ko na inisip pa 'yon at tumayo.
"Gisingin ko lang si Kaiane," paalam ko sa kanila ngunit natigil ang paglalakad ko nang may magsalita. Mas lalo akong nagtaka patungkol sa kaniya dahil sa kasunod na sinabi niya.
"Don't bother. She's already awake ten minutes ago." si Heath.

I was humming while showering when I heard Heath's voice, which startled me. Wala bang warning muna?!
'Kaiane.'
