Anxious chills raked up Nix's spine as she strolled to the science building's front entrance. After going over the plan with everyone and trading walkie-talkies with Jake, she and Griffin got back into the buggy and made their way over to the heavily guarded facility.

The grass was cut down and replaced with concrete, creating a walkway to and around the building. Nix and Griffin followed it to the door which was secured by a man with an assault rifle in his grasp.

He pivoted on his heel when he spotted the two. Griffin instantly recognized him, "Lee, my man," he went to dap him up.

Corporal Lee didn't accept the offer. Griffin, instead, brushed a hand through his hair, unfazed by the corporal's impassiveness.

"State your names and purpose," Although Lee knew who both of them were, it was a mandatory precaution.

"Sutton Ardmore and Griffin Stokes," Nix told him. "They sent us on account of there being a glitch in the security cameras. The best engineer was requested for the fix."

Griffin stuffed his hands in his pockets, enjoying the flattery even if it was false.

Corporal Lee scrutinized them for a moment. Nix feared her lies might not have worked until she heard him mutter something into his earpiece.

On cue, the sliding door to the facility opened with a hissing sound as air was released from the entry hall. "Go ahead," Lee nodded.

Griffin and Nix exchanged a subtle glance before stepping through the door. It slid shut behind them, suctioning the Pandoran air out before the next set of double doors opened up.

They eased into the facility, removing their air-masks. Nix shoved hers into her bag while Griffin slung his around his neck.

"D'you really think I'm the best engineer?" He asked with a grin.

"Of course I do," she said, earnestly. "It's why I asked for your help."

"That and 'cause you can trust me." He added smugly, though his grin faded a little. "Shit. I hope Lee doesn't realize that's his buggy I was driving."

"I feel that should be the least of our worries right now," Nix stated as she pulled out her transceiver. She looked around to make sure no one was watching as she held it to her lips. "Devil Dog, we're in."
