The summer was one of the most exciting summers she ever had.
She learned about all the Weasley Family members and became a close friend of Ginny's. However, there was one thing- Ginny's crush on Harry. She talked about him a lot, and the brunette felt anxious and angry when she did.
Harry had however started making excuses to hang out more with her. The moment she stepped into the kitchen, he would somehow appear, striking up a conversation and finding reasons to be near her. With a charming grin, he'd listen intently as she chattered about her day, sometimes earning teasing glances from the twins and Ron.
Mrs Weasley taught her how to knit and cook Beef Wellington, a dish she had never gotten the hang of. Percy had given her some books when he was rarely seen downstairs. Mr Weasley had taken her vinyl player to his garage and started to pick it apart, promising to mail it to her once he put it back together. The twins had taught her the skills of the keeper, which resulted in her having to get hit in the head a few times, "all part of the training". Ron had somehow made her not hate the Chudley Canons, a Quidditch team(Ron's favourite) which always finished last in the league.
The brunette also got to know more about the other Weasley brothers, Charlie and Bill. She had kept on writing back and forth with Charlie. The most peculiar thing about this was she and Hermione had a fangirl thing going on about Bill's looks, which annoyed the Weasley siblings and Harry to some extent.
Harry had well... First, she had to help him with all of his homework, and by help, she meant almost completing it. He hadn't even started! Second, he wanted to learn how to braid hair for some unknown reason, so she made him practice first on her scarves and then on her hair. By the end of the training, he braided her hair beautifully along with flowers in it. When she asked him why he wanted to, he just blushed and went away.
..........
Mrs Weasley woke them all early the following Wednesday. After a quick half-a dozen bacon sandwiches each, they pulled on their coats and Mrs. Weasley took a flowerpot off the kitchen mantelpiece and peered inside.
"We're running low, Arthur,' she sighed. "we'll have to buy some more today..ah well, guests first! After you, Harry dear!"
She offered him the flowerpot and he stood there confused. The brunette shook her head and muttered." Mrs. Weasley, he's never travelled by floo powder. Hagrid took him by the underground train the first time."
Before Mr. Weasley could ask him anything, The twins offered to teach him how to do it. After they disappeared into the fire, Ron followed. The brunette also went next smiling apologetically.
After experiencing the nauseating journey to the fireplace near Diagon Alley, she found the boys and,
"He'll be alright, won't he?"
"I reckon floo powder shouldn't be too hard to follow, but he's a fidgety lot. Mind you I don't think he waited till the Diagon Alley grate." Fred replied.
The brunette was pacing until she found Hermione by Gringotts, she greeted her parents who excitedly greeted her back.
"It's exactly like exchanging with foreign currency, Mr. Granger."
After exchanging goodbyes with the Grangers, she told her how she was waiting for Harry. The conversation somehow steered into talking about the curriculum this year and Gilderoy Lockhart. While talking to Hermione, she subconsciously started smoothening her braid which reminds her, HARRY FREAKING POTTER.
"Sweetheart, dear Ms. Potter has slipped out of our hands again. One of these days, I'll just put a tracker on him. hey--- I know muggle contraptions don't work around magic- stop giving me that look."
"Well, darling, here comes Master Harry AdOrnEd with soot."
The brunette turns around with a soulless look on her face, casting a spell to remove the soot and muttering very clearly, "I envy the people who haven't met you.
Hermione burst into laughter and guided him towards Mrs Weasley, who was hyperventilating at this point.
"HARRY DEAR ARE YOU ALRIGHT? WE WERE WORRIED YOU HAD GONE A FIREPLACE TOO FAR."
"Mrs. Weasley, I'm sorry I made you worry. I accidentally turned up in Knockturn Alley."
The reactions were severe. Hermione had a curious look on her face, The brunette had a concerned look on her face, the twins had a sulking face and Ron was clapping him on the back. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley launched into a tirade about the dangers of Knockturn Alley.
The brunette however had a different question, she asked him if he had seen any creatures. And when he said no, She went looking for her mother who was waiting for her at Gringgotts.
"Hello mum, are we going shopping today? Did dad come back yet?"
"Silly, dad will be back in time for your departure. He sent me a letter. Let's go and buy you supplies."
"Mum I'll be with the Weasleys to gather my books."
"Alright dear, just don't wander off."
The book shop was to the brunette's taste. That whiff of old books, alongside the new books made her happy. But as soon as she stepped in, she was pushed to the side.
"Move it, little girl."
She replied in kind, stepped on the person's foot. On getting a closer look, she realised it was the book signing for Magical Me, by Gilderoy Lockhart. She quickly bought her set of books and handed them to Mrs. Weasley who volunteered to get them signed.
She started looking through books when Malfoy came. Couldn't she get get a break from that bloke? He started sneering at Harry and said something she couldn't hear. But his face was too smug for her liking and she launched on him.
"Oh hello Malfoy, I am surprised to see your legs still function properly. My legs still hurt from that dance with you. Hope Mr. Malfoy got you some dance lessons, or the next he hosts the Sacred 28 ball you'll embarrass him."
"Scamander, it was your puny feet who need lesson-
"Y/n, what's the Sacred 28 ball?"
"Well Ginny, they are hosted every summer by one of the Sacred 28 families. We all go to our first ball at the age of 10 and you're required to dance in representation of your family. It's quiet fun.... If you know how to dance." She added to an already fuming Malfoy.
Maybe she can get over it?
