I sipped the last of my coffee as the digital clock above my door struck my favorite time of day: end of shift.

For today, at least. We've been dealing with a citywide server issue and haven't had much hustle and bustle like usual in almost a week.

Of course there was the odd complaint from our antsy clients but us associates weren't upset by the disturbance. Considering the majority of us were still students, we needed the break.

Desperately.

"I'm surprised you haven't jumped up from your desk and packed up yet."

I looked over the top of my glasses and saw Samaria standing in my doorway with her Chanel purse and office bag on her arm.

"Ha-ha. I was waiting for the proper time. I wouldn't want my superiors to see me packing up so soon." I teased.

"Mí tired. I haven't had a decent night of sleep with all this backed up work and I'm itching to see my man."

"You two must have a date planned."

"Maybe," Samaria giggled, "he told me to dress nice and you know I don't dress like nothing less. I was gonna go straight home butttt I need him to check out the oil in my car."

"Let me grab my things and we can head out then. I won't keep you waiting."

"Take your time, I'll wait for you in the lobby. I need to chit chat with the doorman anyways and see who's been taking my parking spot all week."

I nodded and Samaria disappeared down the hall and out of my sight. I quickly packed my things for the weekend, making my way down to the lobby after saying my goodbyes to my fellow colleagues.

"Just make sure they don't take my spot Monday, okay Jeffrey?"

"I'm on it Ms. Lewis."

"Thank you," she smiled before giving me her attention, "Mila! You ready to leave?"

"I'm all set. Let's go."

We took the short walk to the private parking garage and headed to the opposite side of town in a rush.

"Sorry I'm driving like this but girl I get nervous when any of these lights come on. Zak's finna cuss me out when he sees it."

I chuckled, "He services your car too?"

"Services, cleans, everything. His dad owns the shop so it's basically his. Zak never lets me go to other mechanics and always makes sure my car's running properly. He's overly protective of my car as if it's his."

"Zakari sounds like my brother." I sighed. "He was so obsessed with his first car his ass wouldn't let anyone drive it."

"And that's how Zak is with his Hellcat. The boy won't even let me sit in his front seat without him being present. He thinks I'll take off on a joyride."

"Would you?" I questioned, a grin appearing on her face.

"Maybe."

I laughed and shook my head, looking out at the rural scenery as we came closer to Zak's mechanic shop. Though we've only ever talked over FaceTime whenever Samaria was around, he seems like a great guy.

Samaria is head over heels in love with this man.

We pulled into the busy shops entrance and I couldn't help but notice the herd of black men in olive green jumpsuits. Most weren't wearing them properly as they tied the sleeves around their waist, allowing their undershirts to show.

They were all covered in oil and other dirty residue as they eyed Samaria's car intently. Noticing who she was, they began escorting us to the other side of the shop where there weren't any cars.
