It was summertime

Going on a vacation this time

My family had decided

To have it in our province

I felt delighted

And very excited

After quite a year

Suddenly, some good

Old memories appeared

We are going back

To the place I grew up

Where my childhood

Memories arise

While we are getting near

I saw many changes

I felt like a complete stranger

Even though I have lived here,

For at least eleven years

Now I'm back again

I'm twenty-seven

Things are a littledifferent

When we got to my grandparents' home

Grandma suddenly approached

While I showed respect

By doing a mano po

Then she gave me a hug

How big have you grown up

She whispered to me

While Grandpa gave me

A pat on my shoulder and saying

What a handsome young man!

You have been there now

Then my eyes got intertwined

By a girl that hadcome by

While she was at the door,

Like my jaws fell off the floor

With that wonderful view, I have seen

I suddenly don't know what to do

Like I lost myself suddenly

It's like flashes of hearts

Are floating aroundmy head

Then Grandma said

This is your childhood friend

That really shocked me then

I don't know how to react

I was like, How did that happen?

How did she look thisamazing?

It's like she is the only person I see

I was unable to move

I was like a statue

And only a little more

I'm about to say Ilove you

Her glow up made

My world stopped

While my heart didn't miss

A single drum beat on my chest

While looking at her

How have you been?

It's been quite a year

Since we last saw each other,

That's the word

That came out of my mouth

Before she said I'mokay

I asked her out one day

Not on a date

Just a tour

Around the town

To remember

How things are

But deep inside

It's our first datefor me
