Karv went home the next day, his heart heavy with dread.

As he stepped through the door, he felt the weight of his family's stares, each pair of eyes boring into him.

He had ignored his father's countless calls, knowing the confrontation that awaited.

Upon entering the house, he saw his father standing there, fury etched into his features.

"Where were you?" his father demanded, voice sharp and cold. Karv remained silent, unable to meet his father's gaze.

His mother rushed forward and enveloped him in a hug, and for a moment, he found solace in her embrace.

But the moment was fleeting.

"Leave him, Vrindha!" his father growled, his tone full of contempt.

Tears welled in his mother's eyes as she pulled away, her gaze pleading silently with her husband to show mercy.

Without warning, his father stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face.

"I never expected this from you," he spat.

Karv's cheek stung, but he refused to show any reaction, simply staring back at his father with a hardened expression.

"You've learned nothing from the past. You're still the same," his father continued, his voice shaking with anger.

"For the first time, the police came to our home because of you. My reputation is destroyed!"

Karv's mind reeled. He had never imagined his father would speak to him like this.

His brother entered the room, his face a mask of concern.

"Is there anything else you need to tell us, Karv?"

Karv shook his head, feeling a lump form in his throat. He had nothing left to say.

"What more can he say? He's a murderer now!" his father shouted.

The word "murderer" hit Karv like a punch to the gut.

"I'm not a murderer," Karv whispered, his voice barely audible.

His brother tried to console him.

"We know you're not, Karv, but others don't."

Karv couldn't meet his father's eyes.

The disappointment and anger radiating from him were too much to bear.

His father continued to berate him, each word cutting deeper than the last.
