Isolation

On the top of the balcony,

I stare at a platoon of stars,

Downstairs there's the growl of cheers,

And nothing more do I want than to run away, far.

Far above the cheers,

A star streaks across the sky,

Without a care in the world.

Away from its problems does it fly.

Oh, little star, little star,

How jealous can you make me be?

Help me transform,

How I wish to be like thee.

Is it not strange?

Surrounded by laughter all the time,

Yet all I feel is loneliness,

Not a sense of sublime.

All my friends are happy,

Joy and cheer surround me,

So why won't I feel?

What stops my heart from being free?
