NATE WAS used to waking up and not truly remembering what had happened the night before... he should probably get that checked out, but this felt different. Something was off. Like something was weighing on his chest that he couldn't get off.He gently rubbed his eyes with one hand as the other one rested on something hard but with a lot of hair... his eyes widened, had the neighbor's dog found their way into their house again?
No, it could have.
Nate blinked slowly before feeling something shift underneath him and that's when it clicked for him. He, as slowly as he could, lifted his head and saw that he'd still been in his van from the night before, from the party that he'd never left... but somehow the others had... he'd question that later.
Then it clicked, it clicked so hard for Nate when he whipped his head down and saw Rachel's head resting on his bare chest. He could feel his heart racing a mile a minute as he jerked the blanket up. He let out a somewhat sigh of relief as he saw his T-shirt clad against her body, but her clothes had been disregarded nearby, which wasn't too helpful because all of that meant one thing and one thing only.
He sighed heavily and ran his hand through his hair. To him, this was great. This was amazing even, he hated to say it, he really did, but sex with Rachel was way better than sex with Nikki, which was harsh he knew that, but it was different. With Nikki, every time they did it, it was right after an argument. Sex couldn't be the answer all the time but somehow it was their answer all of the time, but with Rachel, every time they had sex, which was often... when they were together of course, it was because they wanted to, not because of an argument and not because they felt like they needed to, it was because they wanted to, that was the difference.
So why did he feel so guilty?
It wasn't because of Jay. No, it wasn't that. It was more so about what Rachel thought about it. What would happen if she woke up in utter disgust and wanted nothing to do with him? What if this was just a big mistake? What if this was her sign that she didn't want to be with him and rather be with Jay instead?
It had been a long time since he felt this way and it sucked. He had been heartbroken before, but, this anxiety was all new and different for him.
He sighed heavily and gently ran his fingers up and down Rachel's back. He wanted some comfort while he was alone in his mind and though Rachel was asleep, her presence was comfort enough... you know, until she rejected him.
