AFTER MANY, many hours of trying, Ms. Forman was allowing Leia to stay in Point Place for the school year. As usual, the group of friends found themselves in the Forman's basement as they discussed the new school year with Leia.

"I'm nervous, but in a good way." Leia smiled. "Like at the end of an escalator. Gosh, I love this feeling."

With knitted brows, Ozzie looked over at Leia. "You are literally a Smurf."

Leia continued, ignoring Ozzie's comment. "And I have my best friends with me to show me the ropes."

Nikki smiled. "Even in your fantasies, you're a nerd."

"Let's not rush this," Gwen said. "We still have one more night left of summer, and we always spend it together on the roof of the school."

Leia gasped. "Really?"

Rachel turned, though in her own thoughts because of her own problems (which was an actual problem for her), and looked over at Leia from her spot on the floor.

"It sets the tone for the year," Rachel answered. "Some weird metaphor about us being on a box rather than in it or something like that."

Jay began to chuckle. "I like to pee off the roof and try to make it into the trash can." The group only looked at him, their eyebrows furrowed. "Hey, everyone has their reasons, and that's why it's so special."

"We need good snacks this time," Ozzie said. "Last year, this one" pointing towards Nate. "brought a watermelon with no knife"

"I didn't know how hard they were to peel." Nate confessed.

But before the conversation continued, Ozzie began shouting, "Cops," as Ms. Forman, Leia's mother, came down the steps.

"Listen," she began. "I love that Leia's found her people. Seeing her surrounded with friends who love her warms my heart. But know this. You're all delinquents, and I trust none of you."

"What?" Gwen questioned. "We're just eight American teenagers working hard and dreaming big." She smiled, pointing towards Rachel on the floor and Niiki on the beach chair. "Especially them."
