"May roommate ka, 'di ba?"
Gusto ko sanang matitigan si Lev at makita ang ekspresyon niya sa mukha, but our position does not allow for that kind of movement. This dancing partner of mine could give Theo a run for his money pagdating sa kaartehan kapag nasasagi ang balat.
"Volcada, Anna," mahina niyang anas.
My body may not move, but my eyes sure could. So, I rolled my eyes leaned on him, giving him my weight. Maingat niya kaming inikot. My feet automatically follow his lead. Dumausdos ang palad niya sa likod ko. His fingertips digging into my flesh a second before they relaxed.
Ilang ikot pa ang nagawa namin bago ako muling nangulit. "Uh, hello? I asked a question."
My hand stayed on his other shoulder.
"One bedroom unit ang kinuha ko," sabi niya. "You know this."
I giggled. Not just for the snooty tone in his voice, but for the weirdness of it all. I'm brought back to the first time na narinig ko si Theo na magsalita ng Hiligaynon. I experienced the same visual and auditory disconnect from looking at a blue-eyed, dark-haired Russian speaking in a Filipino dialect. I had years para masanay kay Theo. Dito kay Lev, the slight disconnect is still there. It doesn't help na may subtle accent si Lev. Si Theo kasi, wala.
"Okay," sabi ko, still giggling. "So, dormmate?"
"Nasa dormitory ako. Of couse, I have dormmates."Kinurot ko na ang balikat niyang kinapapatungan ng isa kong palad. "Bakit ang sungit mo? Parang nagtatanong lang naman."
He snorted without changing our position. "You're asking stupid questions. You are not stupid. Colgada."
Lev shifted our weight and he gently pushed me to lean away from him. I caressed the edge of my sharp heels against one of his leg before stepping it back on the floor in one of our many turns. I felt his sharp intake of breath and that made me smile.
"I hate it when you do that without warning," he groused.
"Like how I hate it when my questions are not answered?"
His eyes narrowed, but he did not comment. My smile widened and winked at him. He rolled his eyes before pulling me back into volcada. Mukhang sasayawin namin ang buong Argentine tango in just a combination of volcada and colgada.
"Let's try this again, shall we?" nakangisi kong anunsyo pagkatapos nang isa na namang ikot. He rolled his eyes again. "May ka-close ka ba na dormmate?"
"I don't go out of my way alienating them. Unlike your friend Theo. And your Cole."
Nang ipinakilala ko siya kina Cole at Theo last year, he didn't look like he had any comment one way or another about them. Ganoon din ang mga lalaki sa kanya. Namali ba ako nang akala?
"He is not my Cole," tanggi ko.
Inarkuhan niya ako ng isang kilay in disbelief. Sarap manipa, ha. Naka-dancing shoes pa naman ako. Matalim ang heels ang mga ito. "He isn't? He wants to be."
"Not happening."
He blinked and stared and then snapped, "Colgada." I leaned away from him and let him deal with keeping me in axis on the floor. "Isn't it too late for that? You're sleeping with him, correct?"
