Chapter 4

Amity pov:

"Give me a second to actually help you, you idiot" he complained trying to keep up with me. I suppose I was making his job difficult. I was trying to hobble on ahead of him.

Viney wouldn't let me go see Eda until she had finished healing me. Emira sided with her girl so much for sibling solidarity.

He gently guided me up the stairs and to Eda's room. Edric knocked gently. We heard a small 'come in' prompting us to turn the knob.

I didn't see Eda. But she had responded so she had got to be in here.

"Eda?" I make my way to the nest and peek over it. Leaning on the nest for support. There she was. The owl lady laying in her nest hugging a picture to her chest. King laid beside her a worried look over his face.

"Oh hey kid. I see your back to your senses" Eda says, glancing at me before resting her eyes. She looks tired. Sad.

I looked down at the picture she was holding. It was Luz's banned poster from her first day here. She misses Luz.

I gently play with her hair and lay my head on the edge of the nest,"I got her through the portal safe Miss Eda." She looks up at me, I offer her a smile,"I used the shadows to protect her from the blast. It sent her through."

"So she's safe. That's good to know." Eda lays the picture by her side before She smiles up at me,"as long as she is safe"

"What do you know about the portal?" I ask as I play with her hair.

"I found it in the woods. It was half buried. The door had an original owner. I asked my grandmother but she only brought up one name, a guy named Philip I think. Grandma used to talk a lot about a human that lived here a long time ago" Eda answered,"why?"

"Edric see what you can find on a man named Philip." I order as I stand up.

"What?" Eda looks up at me.

"He might know how to build another. It's doable. But we need the ingredients. Which I don't know yet" I explain, beginning to pace. We need the portal to bring Luz back. Including the staff.

"Belos needs something from the human realm. But the portal is broken. He can't go get it" a smile form on my face. We have time to collect what we need.

I led Eda and king down to the living room. Was letting herself fall onto the couch and king sitting on her back. I study the others. They seem to be ok. A few scrapes.

"Ed what did you find" I ask standing at full attention.

"I looked into the name. There's a book on him in the library. Its said that he donated it to the library," Edric peeks his head back in. Holding up his scroll,"I think it's a diary. And get this he was human."

"I knew that part but thank you ed." I mumbled. I point at Willow,"you and I will go to the library and get that diary. Maybe he wrote about the portal or something to slow down belos."

"Got it."

"Gus, you and Bosha go get materials for potions. We will need them later. Anything to improve ourselves and help others." I quickly looked for a bag. I hand it to him and point to the door.

"Edric, Emira, and Eda. I want you guys to look around town. Subtly I want to know what's going on. If anything has changed." I stand next to Willow and cross my arms,"no complaints. No jokes. This shit is important."

Viney raised her hand,"they need to rest first. especially you. You were not only stabbed by whatever that shit was. When you were out there you were already hurt only to get further hurt." She finished Leaning a little on Emira. Emira face became flush at the mere contact. Gay.
