4) Another presence

<3RD PERSON POV♡

Half a year has passed since Nezuko got her task of cutting a boulder, which proved to be a lot harder than she thought.

During that time, her brother, Tanjiro, has still not waken up. Keizo has called a doctor on the sleepinng demon, but to no avail as the doctor found nothing wrong.

Nezuko has shed a lot of sweat and tears the past six months, but has only managed to slice the boulder trough just a little, not even cutting 1 milimeter.

She has been practicing her breathing technique and sword cutting in hope of getting strong enough to cut the boulder. She even managed to master the first breathing technique of wind breathing at an above average level!

As usual, she let out a groan and sat against the boulder in defeat. "It's been so long, and I haven't even managed to cut a centimeter trough this boulder!" She thought, thinking that she'll never qualify for final selection.

Suddenly, she hears someone walking though the woods. When she opened her eyes, she saw a young lady staring at her from behind a tree.

Nezuko immediately gets frightened before relaxing, noticing it's just a girl. The examined her from afar, noticing her sick look and shaky body.

"Uh.. miss? Do you need any help?"She asked, and the woman gets embarrassed for staring too long. The mysterious woman shakes her head, her face flushing red.

"Miss? Are you okay?"Nezuko asks again, standing up and cautiously walking towards her. "Yes, yes.. I am fine.." The woman says, taking on a shaky tone.

Nezuko relaxes enough to sheat her sword again. "What are you doing here?"

The woman simply just looks at her, unsure of how to react. "Oh, I am just.. watching you train, that's all! I noticed you aren't able to cut trough the boulder like the others did.."

"Others? What does she mean by that? Did Keizo have other students too?" Nezuko asked herself, confused on what she is implying. "What do you mean miss?"

"Well, most of them were able to cut trough the boulder, but you're clearly struggling! Do you need any help?" The woman asks her, offering her help in training her.

Nezuko just eyes her up and down. She didn't want help from somebody who looks sick incase she accidently worsens their problems! Nezuko shakes her head as a 'no' gesture. "Oh, no thanks miss! I think I'll be able to cut trough the boulder soon enough.."

The woman just looks at Nezuko for a moment, before getting embarrassed again. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable..!"

Nezuko immediately defends her. "No, no, no miss! You got it all wrong. You didn't make me uncomfortable! I just don't want your help since you look sick, and I wouldn't want to worsen your condition!!" Nezuko insisted that it's all fine for the next couple of minutes, embarrassed that the other party thought something like that

Nezuko stops talking after a few minutes of reassuring the woman, before asking something she should've asked earlier.
"Miss, you haven't told me your name yet! Who are you?" Nezuko asks, her curiosity again getting the better of her.

The woman pauses for a moment, laying out her options before finally answering. "Oh, I am so sorry! I should've introduced myself earlier! My name is Koyuki, nice to meet you!"

Nezuko gives Koyuki a warm smile, before introducing herself too. "No need to apologize miss! I am Nezuko, nice to meet you too, Koyuki-san!" Nezuko bows infront of Koyuki, showing her respect for the lady.

Before Koyuki had the chance to say anything else, Nezuko quickly cuts her off. "You look incredibly young! How old are you?" Nezuko asks, before suddenly pausing. Wait.. DID SHE JUST ASK A WOMAN HER AGE!? THATS SO EMBARRASING!

"OH WAIT MISS, I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SORRY FOR ASKING YOU THAT!!!" Nezuko says again, her face blushing red out of embarasment. She seriously just asked a woman that!?

"Oh, wait wait wait! It's alright, it's alright!" Koyuki blushes at her apology, clearly not expecting that. "I am 16!" She answers her new friends question, not wanting her to be so embarrassed.

Nezuko continues apologising, clearly uncomfortable by how she asked her that.

"Also.. while watching you-" Koyuki starts, getting Nezukos attention. "I saw that you were holding your sword in a different way than the others! I think that might be the reason why you're not managing to cut the boulder properly.. and your swinging too.."

Nezuko listens intently, shocked by the other woman's knowledge. "Koyuki-san doesn't even look like she trains, and she knows more than me!? Well I mean.. yeah, she does seem to be very observant.."

"Oh, you're really observant Koyuki-san! Could you help me train for final selection? I don't think I can do it alone.. its been so long and I have only managed to damage the boulder ever so lightly!!!"

"I uh-" Koyuki seems to be caught off guard by Nezukos request, and Nezuko only continues pleading for her help.

"Alright, no need to beg! I'd be more than happy to help!" As soon as Koyuki says that, Nezuko immediately jumps up in excitement and squeals. She has gotten someone to help her! So exciting!

A week passes by after their first encounter. During that time, Koyuki showed up everytime Nezuko tried to cut the boulder, giving her tips and proper ways on how to actually use the sword better.

"Hey, Koyuki-san, may I ask you something?" Nezuko asks Koyuki, clearly having something in her mind. Koyuki nods while sitting against the tree.

"Well, first off, I really love your kimono and your hair pins! They look really cute! Your kushi from behind too!" Koyuki is taken aback by the sudden compliments, her face flushing red. She hadn't expected that.

"BUT!" Nezuko continues. "I have noticed that your kimono looks like this ones hashiras haori, and he also has the same hairpin in his hair as your left hairpin! I forgot his name.. I think it was.. Mr. Hakuji? Do you two know each other?"

Nezuko asks Koyuki, and she takes a while to process what Nezuko has just asked her. That's a lot of words...

"Well uhm.. yes, we do know each other! He is a man who's very dear to me!" Koyuki admits, a soft blush spreading across her face.

"Waa.. thats sweet! Nezuko nods at Koyukis answer.
