"1! 2! 3!... Wait, is this the song with the drums?" Aiden's voice echoed through the cramped rehearsal space, the sharp clack of his drumsticks punctuating his excitement. I couldn't help but chuckle, shaking my head as I launched into the opening verse. Aiden caught on quickly, his beats thundering beneath my vocals, driving the song forward with infectious energy.

The rest of the band seamlessly joined in, each instrument adding its own layer to our creation. Logan's fingers danced across the keyboard, weaving intricate melodies that intertwined with Ben's steady bass line. Tyler's guitar riffs soared, adding a raw edge that complemented the song's intensity. And of course,Taylors background vocals and killer guitar skills pulled the song together perfectly. And as we sang together, our voices melded into a chorus that filled the room, the culmination of a week's worth of late-night sessions and creative sparks.

As the final chords rang out, I let out a satisfied sigh. "Great job, everyone," I praised, catching my breath. "And Aiden, your adlib was kind of genius. We should definitely keep that," I grinned, nodding towards him. He beamed, taking a playful bow with his drumsticks in hand.

"Ashlyn," Taylor's voice interrupted from beside me.

"What's up, Tay?" I turned to her, curious.

"I think the song could use another layer of guitar," she suggested eagerly. "I've been tinkering with a 12-string guitar idea that I think could really elevate it. Let me show you in the studio later."

I nodded enthusiastically. "Sure thing." I smiled, "But let's not keep Melissa waiting again. She's been relentless with these meetings lately."

Tyler chimed in, his frustration palpable. "Seriously, what's with all the meetings? It's like we're living in that conference room."

Logan chimed in, "Yeah, what's the verdict this time, Ash? Are we still terrible at our jobs according to Melissa"

Melissa, our manager, was notorious for her meticulous oversight and high expectations. Every day seemed to bring a new directive or critique, keeping us on our toes and sometimes driving us a little crazy.

"Who knows," I shrugged, turning to walk backward as we packed up. "She's always got some wild idea up her sleeve."

We exchanged knowing looks, a mix of amusement and exasperation. Despite the constant meetings and occasional clashes, we were a tight-knit group, united by our passion for music and the thrill of creating something together.

We finally arrived at the conference room, but this time Melissa's expression was unusually bright, a stark contrast to her usual stern demeanor. "Come in, guys, come come," she beckoned with a smile as we took our seats.

With a flick of a switch, the projector hummed to life, casting our lead single, "Obsessed (Olivia Rodrigo)," onto the screen as it proudly displayed its number one spot on the Billboard charts.

"Whoa, WHAT?" Aiden exclaimed, gripping Ben's shoulders in disbelief and excitement, causing Ben to sway but grin widely at the incredible sight. The rest of us leaned forward, eyes glued to the screen.

"Everyone loved you guys," Melissa announced proudly, pointing to the screen where comments from fans scrolled by.

SCHOOL BUS GRAVEYARD!!! RELEASE AN ALBUM AND MY LIFE SHALL BE YOURS.

I couldn't help but grin as I read the enthusiastic responses. "Wow, they really do love us... And don't worry, we've been working on songs that could make a killer album. We've got some great ideas."

"That's fantastic, truly great. I'm very proud of your success too. This is quite an achievement at your age," Melissa praised sincerely.

I nodded, feeling a mix of pride and gratitude. At just 16 and 17 years old, still not even finished with school, we were living a dream beyond our wildest expectations.

"Melissa, this is all amazing," Logan interjected, ever the pragmatic one, 'but is this what the whole meeting is about?'

"Oh, right! Thank you for the reminder, Logan," Melissa said warmly. "You're always on top of things. Yes, you guys are booked for SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and a slew of late-night shows. You'll need to follow a rigorous schedule for rehearsals..."

I zoned Melissa out as Melissa continued outlining our packed schedule when my phone buzzed discreetly. I glanced down to see a text message waiting for me.

"I'm so proud of you, Ash," Aiden's text appeared on my screen, and I couldn't help but smile at his genuine warmth. Glancing over at him, I saw his soft smile mirrored in his eyes.

"Thanks, but this was a team effort.. I'm proud of you too! All of us!" I replied quickly, my fingers flying over the touchscreen.

"None of this would have happened if you didn't get us into the band, and now we're like, famous..." Aiden's text trailed off, his excitement palpable even through his words.

"WE'RE GONNA BE RICH!" he added enthusiastically.

I couldn't help but giggle at his exuberance. "You're already rich, doofus," I teased playfully.

Aiden was about to reply when Melissa's sharp voice cut through the air, snapping us back to the present. "Got that, Ashlyn?" Her gaze bore into me, expecting my full attention.

"Mhm!" I chirped, flashing a bright smile to mask the brief distraction.

"Good," Melissa continued briskly. "Now, I have a set layout for you guys."

She displayed a diagram of the stage, indicating positions for each of us. I was placed next to Tyler, with Logan beside Taylor, and Ben and Aiden positioned at the back together.

"Wait, what? Why split up Tay?" Tyler frowned, puzzled by the arrangement.

Tyler and Taylor were inseparable—twins who had done everything together since birth.

"That's the thing," Melissa sighed, her expression softening slightly. "You can't exactly date your sister."
