Taylor's Point of View:
"Is that all Miss Taylor?" Paul, my security guy asked as he grabbed the final suitcase from the floor.
"Yes, that's all." I said tucking my hair behind my ear. "I'll be in the car just a sec..." I said motioning him to go.
He nodded and walked out with the suitcase tires squeaking behind him.
This was it...
I looked around my London apartment, the one I shared with Joe. I had finally decidedly to sell it and take all my stuff. There was no point in waiting and hoping anymore.
I took a deep breath and silent tears cascaded down my cheeks. This was harder than I had imagined. I could of just sent security to take my stuff but I wanted to see it for the last time. As if I wanted to say goodbye to London...
Flashback:
"Hi baby," He greeted right through the door. "The markets are bullocks these days. I almost went overboard while buying ice cream by the rocks." Joe said swinging his keys off of his finger and onto the coach.
He looked refreshed and fine. His hair deliciously ruffled and his eyes wide and bright, something I realized I didn't see when he was with me.
"Yeah, it happens during the weekend. " I small talked giving him a small smile. He came around to give me a quick kiss on the lips like he had to. Then he flopped onto the couch, putting his hands behind his head and leaned back stretching his legs out. "How was your day?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Good I went to an appointment and then I ordered Chinese food for lunch." I said closing my laptop screen and tucking my feet under my butt to sit more comfortably.
"Nice," He replied. "We grabbed a subway from Tony's. It is first time I had a sandwich this good." He said as Olivia jumped between us onto the couch claiming her place.
"That's good," I said petting her. The tension was clear in my voice. I couldn't hide it. The pressure was too much on me.
He looked at my face then frowned, "Something's wrong?" He pulled one leg onto the couch to face me.
"No...." I dragged the word avoiding eye contact with him.
"Hey," He went to grab my hand but I pulled it away. "What is it? You're making me worried now?" He asked leaning more close.
Tears started to sting in my throat but I couldn't cry right now. I had to have this talk with him.
"Joe..." I took a deep breath so I could speak clearly. "Are you happy with me?" I asked squeezing my hands together.
He frowned and leaned his head back to look at my face, "What? Of course I'm happy. What kind of question is this?" He asked shocked.
"I just wanted to confirm." I had to process everything slowly. I wanted to know the truth. I was tired of pretending we were fine. Joe refused to acknowledge that we didn't have the same spark we had when we first fell in love. I was drained of all joys of life because all my attention was kept on keeping him happy instead and making surely he stays that way.
"What happened?" He was already troubled.
"If you're happy and we have been dating for many years now. Why haven't you proposed to me yet?" I shot my ultimate question. The question that every single one of my friends and family have been asking me.
He looked like a dear caught in headlights. His face lost all color and his blue eyes turned scared and unsure. "I - I thought we weren't ready yet..." He said swallowing.
