Alex's POV:
As I stepped onto the campus of King's College, I finally let it sink in: I was here. All of my hard work had finally paid off. I never thought I would make it to college, considering I grew up poor. I wrote my way into this place-hundreds of essays to ensure I wouldn't end up like my parents. Now, standing here in front of King's College, I'm prepared to give it my best shot.
Filled with excitement, I opened the big glass doors and walked over to the front office. There, I noticed a boy with dark, long curls that were pulled into a long ponytail, sipping a cup of coffee. God, did I need some caffeine.
"Hello, my name is Alexander Hamilton. I'm here to check in," I stated nervously.
The receptionist looked up from her desk, her glasses perched on the edge of her nose. She gave a warm smile and replied, "Welcome, Mr. Hamilton. We've been expecting you. May I have your ID, please?"
I fumbled in my pocket for my wallet, my hands trembling slightly as I handed over my ID. The receptionist took it and began typing on her computer.
"Thank you, Mr. Hamilton," she said, handing my ID back to me. "Your dorm is ready. You'll be staying in room 1776. Here is your key." She handed me a small bronze key. "The elevators are just around the corner to your left. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call the front desk."
I nodded, trying to steady my nerves. "Thank you," I managed to say, taking the key. I turned and headed toward the elevators, my mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead.
"Bonjour!" the boy I had seen earlier exclaimed as he walked toward me. "Je m'appelle Lafayette. And you are?"
"Hello," I replied, taken aback by his sudden approach. "My name is Alexander Hamilton."
Lafayette's face lit up with a wide smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Alexander! Are you new here?"
"Yes," I said, trying to match his enthusiasm. "I just checked in."
"Wonderful! Let me show you around," Lafayette offered, gesturing for me to follow him. "This place can be a bit overwhelming at first."
I nodded, grateful for the friendly gesture. As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a bit more at ease with Lafayette's warm welcome.
After he showed me around the college, Lafayette turned to me and asked where I was staying.
"I'm staying in room 1776," I replied, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Lafayette after his friendly tour.
His eyes lit up with recognition. "Ah, not far from my dorm! We'll have to hang out sometime," he said with a grin as he took another sip of his coffee.
I nodded, grateful for his offer. "That sounds great. Thanks for showing me around, Lafayette."
"No problem at all," he replied warmly. "If you need anything, just let me know. Welcome to the college!"
With a smile, Lafayette headed off towards his dorm, leaving me feeling more at home in this new environment.
I soon decided that I should head to my dorm. With Lafayette's directions fresh in my mind, I navigated through the bustling campus, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness about my new surroundings. As I approached room 1776, I inserted the key into the lock and stepped inside, greeted by a tidy, albeit unfamiliar, space that would be my home for the foreseeable future. Dropping my bags with a sigh of relief, I began unpacking and settling in, eager to make this place my own.
After finishing unpacking, I decided to take a quick nap. Lying on my bed, I stared at the ceiling for about five minutes before I heard the door open. My eyes darted towards the entrance, and there stood the most gorgeous man I had ever seen. His eyes were indescribable yet captivating, and his handsome face was adorned with hundreds of freckles, resembling tiny shining stars.
H-hi," I stuttered nervously as I stood up and walked towards the tall, gorgeous boy. "I'm Alexander Hamilton."
He smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Nice to meet you, Alexander. I'm John Laurens," he replied, extending his hand.
I shook his hand, feeling a rush of excitement mingled with nerves. "Nice to meet you too, John," I managed to say, trying to compose myself in front of this captivating newcomer.
As we continued chatting, John glanced around the room with a grin. "By the way, I'm your roommate," he said casually, gesturing to the empty bed across the room.
I blinked in surprise, then smiled in return. "Oh, great! That's awesome," I replied, feeling relieved and excited about having such a friendly face sharing the space with me.
John chuckled. "Yeah, it'll be fun. We'll make this place feel like home in no time."
"Damn, he was beautiful," I thought to myself as he walked past me, closing the door behind him and throwing his duffle bag on one of the beds.
I watched as John unpacked his belongings, my gaze lingering on him longer than necessary. His easygoing demeanor put me at ease, and I found myself admiring how effortlessly he settled into the space. After a moment, he turned to me with a friendly smile.
"Hey, Alexander, do you mind if I open the window a bit? It's kinda stuffy in here," he asked.
My heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. "Go ahead, John. Make yourself at home," I replied, trying to hide the warmth spreading through me.
John nodded and opened the window, letting in a gentle breeze that filled the room with fresh air. As I watched him, I couldn't help but feel a growing attraction, realizing that my feelings for John were more than just admiration.
I had known John for less than half an hour, yet I had already developed a crush on him. My uncertainty about my sexuality seemed to vanish in his presence; meeting John made me realize I was in fact bi. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that he might not be interested in men.
These thoughts swirled in my mind as I watched John adjust to our shared space, trying to hide my growing attraction behind friendly gestures and casual conversation.
As John settled into the room, I found myself wondering about his thoughts on sexuality. Wanting to broach the topic gently, I waited for a moment when we were both relaxed and chatting comfortably.
"Hey, John," I began cautiously, "I've been thinking about something. You know, about how people see themselves and stuff. Have you ever thought much about sexuality?"
I kept my tone light and open, hoping to convey that I was genuinely curious and non-judgmental.
His face reddened after I popped the question.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" I started, before he cut me off.
"It's okay, Alexander," he chuckled. "I'm actually gay."
His candid response caught me off guard, but I was relieved to hear it. It sparked a flood of questions and a newfound comfort in knowing we could discuss such personal topics openly.
John's revelation about his sexuality lingered in my mind, prompting me to consider sharing my own feelings. After a moment, I decided to open up.
"Hey, John," I began tentatively, "since we're on the topic, I've been thinking about my own sexuality lately. I think I'm bi."
He listened attentively, his expression warm and supportive. "That's great, Alexander," John replied with a reassuring smile. "Thanks for trusting me with that. I'm here for you, no matter what."
His kind acceptance put me at ease, grateful to have someone understanding to confide in, especially considering I had never came out to anyone before.
