Between Us (Lams modern college AU)

Chapter Two:

A/N: Soooo this is kind of just Johns first thoughts about meeting Alexander. Going back to the past!

Johns POV:

As I turned the key and opened the door to my dorm, I was greeted by a face that seemed to light up the room. Who was he? His smile was infectious, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to him immediately. "He's gorgeous," I couldn't help but think to myself.

God, I'm so gay. 

"H-hi," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm Alexander Hamilton."

His nervousness was evident, but it only made him more endearing. I smiled warmly, hoping to put him at ease.

"Nice to meet you, Alexander," I said, extending my hand. "I'm John Laurens."

I greeted him warmly, hoping to ease any remaining tension from our initial introduction.

As Alexander took my hand, I noticed a blush spreading across his cheeks, which made me smile. His nervousness and the way he blushed were unexpectedly endearing, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of fondness towards him.

How did I manage to form a crush in less than two minutes? Damn it, John. 

Before long, we got into some friendly conversation, and somehow the topic of sexuality came up.

"Hey, John?"

"Yes, Alexander?'

"I've been thinking about something. You know, about how people see themselves and stuff. Have you ever though much about sexuality?"

My face flushed red. While I was generally open about my sexuality, I wasn't sure how Alexander would react to finding out I'm gay.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to—" he began before I cut him off.

"It's okay, Alexander. I'm actually gay," I said nervously, unsure of how he would respond.

He didn't say anything for a while. My face still flushed, I tapped my fingers nervously.

"Hey John," he began, his voice slightly nervous. "Since we're on the topic, I've been thinking about my own sexuality lately. I think I'm bi."

That's great, Alexander," I said, feeling relieved to finally have someone I could confide in. We had only known each other for only about an hour but I felt as if we had known each other our whole lives.

Johns POV: 

After chatting with Alex for a while, I couldn't resist telling Herc and Laf about him. He's just too perfect.

ThatGayGuy: GUYSSSSSSS

OuiOuiJeMapelleLaf: Oui?

FourSetsOfCorsets: What is it John?

ThatGayGuy: There is this SUPERRRRR cute guy that I'm sharing a dorm with!!!!

OuiOuiJeMapelleLaf: Mon Ami, we have to meet him!

FourSetsOfCorsets: DUDEEEE TOTALLY.

I giggled as I read the funny texts my friends had sent me. 

"Hey Alex?" I asked, leaning forward slightly, my curiosity piqued. "Do you have any friends around here?" 

He looked a bit frazzled when I asked him, his brow furrowing slightly as if he was pondering his response. 

"Uhm, no actually," he began, his voice tinged with a hint of hesitation. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, avoiding eye contact for a moment before continuing, "I don't really have any friends. It's been pretty tough moving around.

Hey, Alex," I offered gently, leaning in a bit closer. "If you'd like, you could hang out with me and my buddies sometime. We're a pretty chill group, and I think you'd fit right in. It could be a good way to get to know some new people and feel more at home here."

"That would be nice," 

I smiled and stood up. Almost as if on cue, I heard Herc and Lafayette pounding on my door.

"Yo John!" Herc shouted. "We've gotta meet this cute boy you were talking about!"

"Oui mon ami!" Lafayette added. 

Suddenly, my face turned a shade of bright red as my eyes darted towards Alex.

"U-uh, I have no idea what they're talking about." I stammered as I ran to open the door.

"Man what are you talking about? We were just texting and-" Herc began before Lafayette elbowed him in the stomach, taking the hint.

"It's nice to see you again Lafayette." Alex said. 

"Wait, you two know each other?" I asked.

"Oui," Lafayette began. "We met in the lobby this morning."

"Alex, this is Hercules. Hercules, Alex." I introduced. 

"It's a pleasure to meet you Hercules." Alexander said as he extended his hand. 

"Call me Herc." Hercules replied as he took Alex's hand.

There was a moment of silence before Lafayette jumped onto my bed, eagerly rifling through all the movies I had packed.

"Mon Ami, why do you only have Disney movies? Why no French documentaries?" he teased, his French accent adding a playful flair to his words.

"Laf, nobody wants to watch those," I retorted with a grin.

"TU MENS!" he exclaimed dramatically, feigning offense at my remark.

After Lafayette's dramatic proclamation, Hercules, who was already lounging on the nearby couch, glanced over with amusement.

"What's all this about Disney movies?" Hercules asked, a grin spreading across his face.

Lafayette, from atop the bed, tossed a DVD case in Hercules' direction. "John here only packed Disney flicks! Can you believe it?"

Hercules caught the DVD and examined it with exaggerated seriousness. "Well, well. Looks like we've got a Disney marathon on our hands."

Alex chuckled nervously, and I could sense his uncertainty. Hercules and Lafayette were always a lively duo but they had good hearts. I wondered how to help him feel more at ease.

"MOVIE MARATHON!" Hercules yelled, his booming voice filling the room as he practically pounced on top of Lafayette in excitement. Lafayette let out a laugh, playfully pushing Hercules away as they both grinned from ear to ear.

How about you, Alex?" I began, turning to him with a friendly smile that tried to convey my genuine interest in his response. "We're planning a movie marathon here—Disney and whatever else we can dig up. It'll be a blast with these two," I nodded towards Hercules and Lafayette, who were already bantering over movie choices. "Join us. It'll be a good way to unwind and get to know each other better.

He glanced over at the duo, a smile playing on his lips as he chuckled softly. "Yeah, I'm in," he said with a hint of excitement in his voice, eager to join in the fun with our lively group.
