Partner

Because I'm so uncertain
Because I just don't know
I'll refer to you as 'my partner'
Watch my mother's curiosity grow.

Today I referred to you as my 'partner'.
Out loud, not just in my head.
I utilized that word in a real conversation.
I'm accepting myself again.

Accepting the fact that it's perfectly fine
To not know with whom,
I'm spending my life.
A wife, a husband, it's all the same.
As long as they love me,
through the sun filled days
and the rain.

No, I still don't know you
And don't know if I ever will
But I accept the fact that you'll be whoever you are,
And love me through and through.

Woman or man, I really don't care.
I've never felt anything before.
Beggars can't be choosers.
So a healthy relationship
is all I'm hoping for.

But to my mother
Who probably wonders
If maybe I'm gay or something.
Honestly
I don't know

But whoever you are, partner,
you better be there for me.
Be a good partner.
That's all I'm asking.
