Centuries passed and there was no chosen one that was able to lead the witches towards liberation. However, the war continued with the wizarding world now overtaking the human world and Justin and Juliet Russo were in control. While Justin would send troops as headmaster to round out any witches on the run, Juliet would torture them by sucking out their blood which would instantly kill them. Alex and Mason were concerned for their safety, not just with witches but the war so they ran and built a little cottage in the woods. They settled there and raised their daughter here. Years later, Iris got ready for school as the TV blared in her room with the news reporting on another attack on a witch vs wizards war."We're just coming in, the banning of witch has been established and has been cleared that witchcraft and the existence of them has been detained as hundreds of witches are being arrested and tried for their witchcraft crimes." A reporter said as Iris held back tears with her powers glowing yellow.
"What have they done to deserve this? What have I done to deserve this?" She whispered with her thoughts lost as she stared at the TV mindlessly. She was so lost that she didn't heart Mason calling her for school. She dug her nails into her palm with Mason, wearing a vest with red pants and black shoes.
"Iris, you're going to be late for school! So let's..." Mason hollered with realizing that Iris was lost in the news, nearly crying. He went towards the TV and turned it off with Iris letting a couple tears rush out of her.
"You don't need to watch this. We told you this because you always get anxious and scared and the world is being thrown into chaos but we can't get sucked into it." Mason tried to reason in which Iris stood up, ignoring his pleas as she got her books together, including the spell books she kept secret from her parents. Mason stood up as Iris zipped up her backpack and left before Mason stopped her, hiding her wrists which was filled with yellow magic.
"You ok? You need to talk to us if-" Mason started to which she got past him.
"They aren't a threat to us! How dare they do this? Witches are citizens, just like everyone else?!" Iris yelled with her storming down the stairs with Mason sighing and following her out of her room and down the stairs. In the kitchen, it was set up like an everyday cottage kitchen with a white rusted stove that could only be turned on by gasoline or a small match. Fortunately, they were able to use magic to light it up with which Alex used a little too well. While they renovated a lot of the house to make it more modern, the stove wasn't one of the appliances they used. Alex was about to turn on the TV when she heard Iris and Mason arguing.
"You know how the wizards can be and you should be grateful that we're safe and away from that chaos!" Mason barked to which Iris groan and turned to face her father.
"Being grateful that we keep hearing about this shit my whole isn't worth it. Plus there's another war coming and no one's doing a damn thing, yeah dad I'm really fucking grateful." Iris replied as she went to grab a mug and make coffee with Mason leaning against a metal white chair that had a weave design on the center with little lines coming out each end.
"Things could be a lot worse-" Mason started with Alex interfering with her putting her hands up.
"Can we not do it this morning? I barely had coffee and need to wake up." Alex complained to which Iris poured and drank the scalding hot coffee, ignoring the burning sensation in her tongue.
"Tell dad we need to fight back! They talk about another war and it's getting out of hand!" Iris declared with Alex sighing and Mason concerned, calming down so he didn't go full wolf on them.
"Mom it's true. Witches aren't the enemy here, the goddamn wizards and everyone else are!" Iris snared with Alex trying not to take offense, calmly taking steps towards her and comforting her.
"Iris, the news and all that shit isn't healthy to be consuming. Not all wizards are horrible. I'm the family wizard in case you forgot, does that make me horrible?" Alex questioned to which Iris thought about, taking another sip of coffee this time the bitter taste going down smoothly into her throat. Creating a nice sensation in her throat. The wind howled and whispered with the sun shining down on one of the windows and Mason got closer, fully calm as Iris thought about her views and how to confront them.
"Iris, we're getting concerned for you." Mason started with Iris looking at her feet, shuffling from place to place.
"No, I didn't say mom was a horrible person. I said...I said...ugh, why be concerned for me? Just because I care about witches and want to fight with them, doesn't mean I'm a terrible person!" Iris denied, ignoring the root and holding back tears. Gripping onto her backpack straps.
"Honey, we're not saying that you shouldn't care. We're just concerned about how much of this you're consuming. You don't get out, isolate yourself from the world once you get home, and-" Mason started with Iris putting the mug down in the sink and trying to get through the door.
"Forget it, I'm going to be late for school." Iris trying to escape but Mason put his foot down, blocking the door and Alex supporting him by standing next to him while holding her hand.
"No, this is important. Besides, Tribeca Pre hasn't changed since I went there." Alex stated while thinking of a way to lighten the mood.
"It's school. No one wants to be there on time...well unless you're a nerd or got detention, like me." Alex joked with mason looking at her with Iris rolling her eyes.
"Alex, darling, focus." Mason reprimanded gently with Alex focusing her attention back to Iris, struggling.
"Darling, we just...look I know you've been hearing this a lot lately and it can wear on someone, we just want to make sure you're not depressed or overwhelmed by it all. I know this is can be scary, but there are good people and creatures in this world and in the wizarding world." Mason comforted with Iris dropping her guard a bit, trying not to let her true fears come out. Alex held her hand and squeezed it.
"I get your angry about this, I'm angry too. People are getting hurt or killed because of something they can't control, but we want your to keep an open mind and keep having hope for the better. If you lose hope, then...you won't have anything to fight for." Alex concluded with Iris nodding.
"You're right. I'm sorry. I...never meant to villainize you." Iris apologized with Alex nodding and hugging her for a second with Mason joining them in the family hug. They released and kissed her head.
"I don't need an apology, besides I've heard worse. We just want to make sure you're ok." Alex reassured with Iris holding back tears, fearing for her safety and her parents' safety.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me." Iris replied, checking her phone with the time being 7:15 in the morning. Putting it away in her pocket, turned to her parents.
"I'm going to be late for the bus. I'll see you later." Iris declared as she went to the door and opened it this time with the door making a little squeak but adjusted as she closed the door and walked the forest path on her way to the city. When she got away from her house, her eyes slowly turned blue and her hand reflected off a purple vibe as she smiled.
"Bus? Get real!" Iris said to herself as she levitated off the ground and flew across the sky, feeling the depth of the clouds and the wind. Spinning around the sky, a weight being lifted off her shoulders as she dropped to the ground. She saw the entrance area and made sure to conceal her powers as her eyes turned back to a sea foam green. Going into the school for another hopefully dull day at school.
