The chamber fell silent after the harrowing encounter with Jack, the echoes of their confrontation lingering in the air like a haunting melody. Rochelle stood beside Isabelle, her thoughts swirling with a mix of relief, disbelief, and lingering fear. Jack, or whatever he had become, was gone for now, but the shadow of his presence loomed over them like a storm waiting to strike.

Isabelle lowered the artifact, its glow fading into a gentle luminescence before finally dimming. She turned to Rochelle, her expression a mix of concern and determination. "Are you alright?"Rochelle nodded, though she knew the answer was far more complex than a simple affirmation.

"I... I think so. Thank you, Izzy. You saved my life."

Isabelle smiled faintly, her gaze distant. "It's what I do. I hunt creatures like Jack—demons, monsters, things that lurk in the shadows."

Rochelle's brows furrowed in confusion. "You hunt them? How... how long have you been doing this?"

Isabelle sighed, a hint of weariness in her voice. "Years. Ever since I lost someone I loved to a demon. It... i-it changed me."

Rochelle sensed the weight of Isabelle's words, the unspoken pain and grief that lay beneath them. "I'm so sorry, Isabelle. I had no idea."

Isabelle shook her head, as if trying to dispel the memories that threatened to overwhelm her. "It's in the past now. What matters is stopping Jack before he can hurt anyone else."

Rochelle nodded solemnly, her mind racing with the realization of the danger they faced. "But how do we stop him, Izzy? How do we break the pact with the demon?"

Isabelle's gaze hardened, her resolve steeling. "We find answers. There must be a way to sever the connection between Jack and the demon, to free him from its influence."

Rochelle glanced around the chamber, the ancient stone walls bearing silent witness to centuries of secrets and mysteries. "The journal," she said suddenly, remembering the cryptic notes and clues it contained. "It mentioned a ritual, a ritual to summon the Serpent God. Maybe there's something in there—"

Isabelle's eyes widened in realization. "Yes, the journal. It's our best chance of finding answers."Rochelle retrieved the journal from her bag, its weathered pages filled with faded ink and cryptic symbols. Together, she and Isabelle pored over its contents, piecing together the fragments of ancient knowledge and forgotten lore.

"The ritual," Isabelle murmured, her finger tracing a particularly intricate glyph. "It could hold the key to breaking the pact."

Rochelle nodded eagerly, her mind racing with newfound purpose. "We have to find the temple where the ritual took place. There might be clues there—something to help us understand."

Isabelle closed the journal with a decisive snap. "Then let's not waste any more time. We need to get back to the Black Pearl and make plans."

Rochelle hesitated, her thoughts lingering on Jack and the man he had once been. "What about Jack? Can we... can we save him?"
