The sprawling skyline of Coruscant shimmered with endless lights as the sun set, casting a golden hue over the Jedi Temple.

Y/N stood at the window of her quarters, eyes set on the distant horizon, watching the thousands of speeders zip by. Anakin had been away on a mission for far too long, the anticipation of his return becoming an aching void in her heart.

The mission had been a dangerous one, and though she had faith in his abilities, the fear of the unknown gnawed away at her anxiety. She had spent countless nights pacing, worrying about him, and longing for his return. The thought of his smile, his touch, kept her going through the sleepless nights.

Anakin had been sent out to the Outer Rim to track down notorious Separatist leader, General Grievous. It was a perilous assignment, fraught with ambushes and traps. Although Anakin's skills were vital to the success of his battalion, the Separatists had been more entrenched than the Council had anticipated.

Y/N had wanted to go with him, to stand by his side and face whatever danger was at foot together. But the Council had assigned her to stay at the Temple. She was needed to aide the incoming injured soldiers, the ones coming from the exact location Anakin was. Of course, this didn't exactly calm her nerves.

Suddenly, there was a soft knock at her door. Her heart skipped a beat...It had to be him.

She rushed to the door, her hands trembling as she opened it. There he stood, Anakin Skywalker, with a faint smile on his face, exhaustion clearly taking over.

His robes were torn, revealing blood soaked bandages wrapped around his torso. One of his arms hung limply at his side, and his face was marred by bruises and a deep cut above his eyebrow.

"Anakin", she breathed, shocked by his battered appearance. Pulling him into the room with urgency, "You're hurt", she emphasized.

"It's just a scratch," he tried to reassure her, his cocky smirk turning into a grimace that told a different story.

"Let me help you, Ani," she insisted, her voice firm yet gentle as she guided him to sit on the edge of her bed. The familiar comfort of her quarters enveloped him, a stark contrast to the harshness of the outside world.

Anakin sank onto the bed, breathing heavily. Y/N knelt before him, carefully removing his boots and cloak as to not hurt him. As her fingers brushed against his skin, a shiver ran through him, and he couldn't help but lean into her touch.

"I've missed you," he said softly, his eyes tracing the contours of her face as if committing every detail to memory.

"I've miss you too, Ani," she replied, her voice thick with emotion. "Every day felt like an eternity without and every night so lonely."

Y/N fetched a basin of warm water and a cloth, returning to his side. Her hands steadied, her medical experience kicking in, as she began to clean his arm revealing a deep jagged wound.

"You're always trying to downplay your injuries," she chided softly. "You know you can depend on, Ani."

"I know," he murmured, his eyes locking onto hers. "And I do...more than you know."

The intimacy of the moment wrapped itself around them, keeping their relationship a secret from the Council was hard enough. So wherever they were alone, their love shined bright for the both of them to confide in.

Y/N finished cleaning his arm and began wrapping it with bandages, her touch lingering on his skin, eliciting a sharp intake of breath from him.

"Does it hurt much, Ani?" she asked, her fingers grazing the bandage.

"Not as much as being away from you," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

Y/N's heart swelled with love and pain. She looked into his eyes, seeing the depth of his feelings mirrored in them.

"I was so worried," she confessed, tears welling up in her eyes again. "Every night I wondered if you were safe."

Anakin cupped her cheek with his hand, his thumb gently stroking her skin. "I'm here now," he said softly. "And I'm not going anywhere."

She carefully unwrapped the bandages around his torso, revealing a deep gash across his abdomen, barely missing vital organs. The wound was raw and angry, and she could see it must have been causing him excruciating pain. She cleaned the wound with gentle, precise movements, her heart aching at his suffering.

"How did this even happen?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly with anger at whoever did this to him.

"We were ambushed," Anakin explained, his voice strained. "It was a close call...too close."

Tears began to spill down her cheeks as she gently applied healing bacta gel to the gash. "You could have died," she whispered, her voice breaking.

"But I didn't," he replied, his hand reaching up to caress her face. "I'm here with you, my angel."

Their eyes met and the electric tension between them crackled. Slowly, their faces inched closer until their lips met in a tender, yet passionate kiss. It was a kiss that spoke for all the day and nights of yearning and worry.

Anakin's hands found their way into Y/N's hair, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened.  Y/N's arms then began to wrap around his neck, their bodies pressed against each other, the heat between them undeniable. The kiss was long, slow, and filled with all the built up frustration of the stupid secret they both were forced to hide.

When they finally pulled apart, their foreheads rested against each other, their breaths mingling, "Stay with me," Anakin whispered, his voice deep and filled with need.

"I will," she promised, her voice steady and full of love for him. "Always."

He leaned back slightly, his eyes searching hers. "It's dangerous, you know. If anyone finds out about us..."

"I don't care," Y/N interrupted, placing a finger on his lips. "All that matters is that we're together. Here and now."

Anakin smiled, his expression softening, "I love you, my angel," he said, his voice a gentle caress.

"I love you too, my Ani," she replied, her heart swelling with emotion.

In the sanctity of her quarters, surrounded by the comforting hum of the Jedi Temple, they found solace and passion in each other's arms. The world outside fading, leaving just the two of them, entwined in a moment of pure intimacy and love, their secret safe for another night.

They whispered words of love and comfort to one another, their hearts beating in sync. Every kiss, every caress, was a promise— a promise of tomorrow, of forever.
