Hey, everyone!!! June had been a traumatic and anxiety-filled month and I got sick the last few days so I had no time to update even though I had prepared the chapter. So, to apologize I will post a double update!

I want to say a huge thank you to all who are reading and have read, voted and kudos this story in-between updates. And in general, the reads, votes and kudos on all of my stories!

Hope you like the chapter!

On Wednesday Slater told her that Rose and Trevor were in town wanting to check in with them about acquiring everything for the sacrifice. And they would be at his house in the afternoon.

And as expected they were, Slater had prepared a dinner table with Elena and smiled hellos at them as they entered the house with dessert and wine in hand.

After spending two hours catching up and regaling Elena with old stories from their shared and not shared pasts it was time to get down to business. According to Rose, Elijah was waiting for their news if they tracked down the doubleganger.

"Send him a confirmation, does he want proof?" Elena asked as she stood up by a white part of Slater's wall and got ready for her close-up.

"It wouldn't hurt." Trevor agreed as he took the picture, Elena smiling softly at the camera.

"And sent!" Rose exclaimed once she received the picture from Trevor and composed an email.

In no time her phone binged and they saw an answer;

"Will be in town in two days."

"And the ducks are getting into the row." Elena exclaimed sighing.

Two days later, Elena having told her friends the news, she was with Rose and Trevor at wooded area, in the ruins of an old plantation, waiting for Elijah. Elena was sitting at the opened truck of Trevor's car finishing and re-reading a draft of an English essay she had to hand in on Monday.

Unaware that Elijah had arrived and was watching them. Trevor was eating an apple nervously while Rose was texting Slater a play by play and Slater was trying to keep her calm.

"How can you do homework at a time like this?" Trevor asked her genuinely surprised and Elena smiled sadly.

"I could do my homework under constant threat of my life before, for me it's been another Friday." Elena said sadly as she brought the memories of the amount of times she couldn't focus on her homework as Marilena because her island was under aerial invasions by Turkey and Greek F16s were chasing Turkish F16s away from their aerial space, causing fires on roofs and greenery areas, parks and schools and breaking the sound barrier causing her ears to be in pain even sometimes bleed as the windows and walls shook.

Her earliest memory as baby was the sound of the sound barrier breaking and the window above her crib rattling and her experiencing the unfamiliar then pain of her ears. Elijah recognized the haunted stare, something horrifying had happened to her.

Trevor looked disappointed and gently patted her shoulder.

"I'm sorry you have to go through this, kid." Trevor said softly and Elena nodded and wiped a few tears before she focused on her paper and Trevor asked about it.

"I have to write about a TV show or an episode of a TV show that has impacted me greatly." Elena explained and Trevor looked intrigued asking her to continue.

"I'm choosing to write about this TV show I used to watch...the entire premise is about an alien with two hearts and time and space travelling box. This alien's name is the Doctor and he frequently visits our planet and gets companions, humans who travel with him, experiencing amazing things! It's this episode where two alien species invade earth, the Cybermen and Daleks. The humans send out an SOS to the Doctor but he doesn't receive it or doesn't answer, we never know what happened. There was this scene that impacted me, Gwen, an agent of this agency called TORCHWOOD, an agency supposedly protecting humans from aliens and aliens from humans, is holding a child under a shelter as Cyberman and Daleks fire above them. A woman asks her because everyone knows she has worked with the Doctor before, asks her where is he and if he comes to save them. And Gwen looks at her and in disappointment says that; no she doesn't think so because humans and aliens were so cruel right now that would we caused him shame. So much shame he had to look away. It made me think about how far humanity will go against their fear of the unknown and the new. I analyze it here on this paper." Elena explained with passion in her voice as Trevor listened to her impressed.
