"What happened?" I asked as two males were rolled into the hospital.
Rushing to the male who was struggling against the nurses that held him down. He was a tiny male with brown chestnut hair and looked to be in shock.
"I don't know, we found them outside, this one was dragging his friend until he collapsed." Dom said as she walked around to the unconscious male.
I dipped into my coat pocket, pulling my stethoscope out and inserting the ear pieces in my ears and the other end against the males chest.
"His breathing is harsh, might have a few broken ribs, run a few blood tests, afterwards send a nurse to clean him." I told the two nurses who he held his wrists flushed against the bed. They both nodded and wheeled him to the testing room.
I rushed over to the other male, forcing his tightly shut eyelids apart, shining the light in. "How long do you think he's been out?" Dom asked, and I shrugged.
"One, maybe two hours, how's his breathing?"
"Faint, very faint. Almost as if it's going to stop any minute now, his ankle is sprained, and his shoulder is dislocated also."
"Hmm," I nodded, writing a small note, I ripped out the page, handing it to Dom. "I need to see what's happening on the inside." I said, and she nodded, pushing the bed in the same direction the other male was pushed to. My eyes lingered on the blonde male being pushed away.
"Dr Liu, please report to the operating room."
Shit, I forgot.
Once I was changed I practically ran to the OR, using my keycard to open the door, and rushed over to the wash station, scrubbing and washing my hands carefully before entering the operating room, two women placed the gloves on my hands and I shuffled over to the table.
"What took you so long?" One of my residents asked, and I looked at him.
"There was an emergency, two wounded, and bloody males were brought it. The sight was pitiful." I said as I made the first incision and shifted my hand, giving way for the blood to be suctioned out.
My team helped me navigate the surgical site, and in no time, the tumour was located.
A tumer, easily one of the most common things in this OR, this one wasn't as bad as the ones I've had to deal with before.
"Are they okay?"
"I think so. They must be stabilized by now." I replied as I took great care, disecting the lesion and separating it from the tissue that's surrounded. With steady hands, each of my stitches and cuts were carefully and delicately calculated in order to minimize as much damage as possible.
After a few brutal minutes, the tumour was freed, and I carefully lifted it as one of my residents held out a shiney metal dish for me to put it in.
"Here, stitch him up." I said as I handed the needle towards Astrid, my most trusted resident. Her eyes twinkled as it always does when she got a chance to do anything in the OR.
She took the needle from me, and I stepped to the side, watching from over her shoulder as she carefully, almost a bit too hesitantly stitched the opening close.
Once everything was all done and the man was brought back to his room and stabilized, I grabbed my clipboard and headed to the rooms where my new patients were.
"How are they?" I asked the nurse who was looking down at them weirdly. She jumped at the sound of my voice and swiftly turned towards the door where I was standing.
