Chapter 23
I looked at the clock.
3:20.
School finished at 3:30.

I looked at the clock.
3:21.
“Darn it,” I muttered under my breath. How could the time pass so slowly?
“A watched pot never boils” Mel whispered to me across the desk.
“I know, I’m so nervous.”
“You’ll be fine, I’m so excited for you!” she beamed.
I gave a small smile.
“So everyone, homework is to complete pages 123 to 133, for Monday” our Biology teacher called.
That’s a homework I think I’ll skip.
“Right, pack up!” she called.
Oh my goodness, this was actually happening. I was about to go out with the guy I’d been drooling over for months.
Mel gave me a big ‘Good-Luck’ hug, and wished me well. I quickly popped to the toilet and sprayed some more of my Hollister’s body mist on my dress, and then I applied a little more mascara. After spraying some breath spray into my mouth, I was ready to go. I took a deep breath, smiling at my reflection, and walked out the door.
I walked down the stairs, and Al was waiting there, leaning against the window. He had rolled up his long-sleeve shirt to his elbows, and his tie was hanging loose around his neck. He was holding his anorak in his hands.
“Hey” he whispered, making me stop and stare, admiring him. “Soph?” he asked, looking a little creeped out.
“Sorry” I whispered, my face burning with embarrassment.
“So, how to lose a guy in ten days” he said, walking next to me as we headed to the bus stop.
“Yeh, sounds cool.”
He smiled, “You heard of it before?”
“Well, Mel told me about it, but I haven’t seen it, you?”
“Never heard of it.” he grinned.
I smiled.
“So, what hobbies d’ya have?” he asked, showing his pearly white teeth as he grinned.
“I love Photography, but that’s it really, you?”
“Swimming is my main one.”
“Cool, I love swimming”
That was actually true - I wasn’t good at it, but I did enjoy it.
“Cool, maybe we can go one time?” he suggested.
“Yeh, sure, I’d love to” I grinned, excited at the thought.
We hopped onto the bus, and it only took a few minutes to get there, but we didn’t want to walk as it was a little rainy.
“D’ya have any pets?” I asked,
“No, but I love dogs, you?”
“Yeh, I have a dog, his name’s Marmite, and I really want another one for my birthday,”
He laughed when I said Marmite.
“Cool, what breed‘s Marmite?” he asked,
“A cross between a toy poodle and a Westie” I said, showing him a picture on my Blackberry.
