Chapter 15
It was the 1st April, and everyone was running around, making sure the art exhibition was ready to be presented and opened.
"OMG, I'm really excited Soph!" Mel squealed, squeezing my hand as she said it.
"I'm not" I mumbled.
"Why?"
"Mine's rubbish, what does yours look like?"
"Mine is a flower as I planned, it's OK I suppose."
That meant it was amazing.
"So, I now declare that the art exhibition is open!" Mr.Mochs shouted across the crowd of parents and children. Mel's Mum and Dad had come, but neither of my parents had.
We walked into the hall, and there were loads of framed pieces of artwork that had been neatly placed on every white-painted wall. There were lots of black and white still life drawings, and a few coloured paintings, but none quite like mine. I walked around with Mel, and we pointed out a few pieces of work, when we came across Al's. He had drawn a picture with felt pens on a canvas.
On one side of the picture, there was a girl, with a pretty top, some jeans, and Converses. She had long brown hair pulled back into a ponytail like mine, and a smile on her face. She was in a sunny park and was sat on a bench listening to music, with trees and birds in the background.
On the other half, there was a boy, wearing almost the same outfit, but an old blue top. He was in a rainstorm, and was sad. He was very thin, had dark eyes, and pale skin. I started to think about me and him then, but I knew I was going crazy, at least I thought I was.
We moved on, and came to Mel's. It was stunning full stop. She had drawn a huge sunflower, but used purple and pink pastels instead of yellow and orange. It was in a vase, and had dark green leaves surrounding it.
After seeing my explosion of mess and colour, we came to Nicki's, in huge bubble writing, it said:
'I Love You Al, And I Just Can't Hide It.'
That felt like a punch in the stomach.
"Don't worry babe" Mel whispered to me, pulling me away from Nicki's drawing.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! The winner for this year's art exhibition is..." Mr.Mochs shouted,
He unrolled a crumpled piece of green paper.
"Alice Ratte!"
(Mrs.Ratte's daughter)
Typical for the teacher's daughter to win the prize.
Mel and I went to sit down in the cafeteria.
"So, are you going away at Easter?" she asked me.
"No, I only go on holiday in the summer, and it's always Spain, you?" I replied.
"No, I'm meeting up with Dillan! Duh! I thought you knew!?"
"Oh, I thought you'd cancelled it, y'know, seeing as you've been flirting with so many guys recently" I snorted.
"Thanks! Anyway, who have I been flirting with?"
"Al at the party, then Ed in P.E the other day"
"I wasn't flirting with Ed! He was telling me how his rabbit died, so I simply sympathized!"
"Right! That's not a lie at all!" I giggled sarcastically. "I thought you would go skiing again though"
"Like you, I only go away in summer, and it's always skiing" she explained.
"Right" I smiled.
"Excuse me" a voice from behind me said.
I turned around to find our headmaster standing in front of us, crossing his arms.
He was very tall and thin, and looked at everyone as if they were aliens from a faraway planet.
"Students are not to use the cafeteria during the art exhibition" he said, staring at us, as if he were trying to find out what race we were from.
"Oh, um, we were just leaving sir" Mel whispered, as she walked away with me.
I had Goosebumps all over my arms and on the back of my neck, he was VERY odd.

Hey guys, hoped u liked the chapter!!! =D
So, a few announcements:
1) On chapter 10 I put a picture of the toast Soph eats up on the right - cus hey I'm weird like that.
2) There's been some confusion with Mel's full name, as I said it was Melissa in some parts, but Melanie in others. Her full name is 'Melanie Smith', and I've corrected my errors, sorry again.
3) Finally, I've changed Al's passion of running and stamp collecting, to swimming and stamp collecting. You'll see why later on...
So once again thank you so much for all of your support, especially reaching 500 reads, it means the world to me!!!
