Chasing Her / Chapter Six

Melanie.

"You never told me you had a dog," I say with a wide smile. I look at the collie, which apparently is Chance's dog. I thought Chance was cute, but this dog is the cutest thing alive!

The visit to the station was interesting. The officer agreed to do some tests on it, but he was very uncertain. We said that we wouldn't have come here if we done something. Also, he asked questions we didn't know were going to be asked. We weren't really great. No, it wasn't my fault. Just because I didn't listen to him, doesn't mean I was the reason we messed up.

"Want to go for a walk with Sally and I?" He asks with a smile.

I nod excitedly. "Yeah! I'm throwing a stick to Sally."

"Sally isn't very agile, Mel," He tells me looking at the dog.

"I can see that." The dog is fairly big, but that doesn't mean I can't give him a stick, right?

The walk was great. The weather really made it something special. The sky has a large sun that's causing the sky to turn a light orange. Birds still sing loudly and a light, cool breeze brings my hair behind my shoulders. I've taken this place called Earth, for granted. It's truly a beautiful place. It holds so much potential.

Also, I got to find out things about Chance. Things that a boy wouldn't normally say to you. He was completely honest and carefree. He reminded me of myself when I was twelve. I didn't care what people would think about me. I just talked and played. A lot of the times with myself, but at that age, I didn't really take much notice.

He told me that he's a crybaby and always cries when he watches Marley and Me. I did as well, but I didn't tell him. I was too busy intrigued by him. He said that he worked at a library for three years. He was only fourteen when he started. He loved it and he even went as far as to say that he's a bookworm. I smiled widely at that, if I'm been honest. I asked him what's his favourite book and he answered something that surprised me. He said The Viral's series by Kathy Reichs. My favourite book too.

Coincidence? I think not. Just pure luck.

The walk was filled with funny moments and one disasters. Thank God it wasn't me that had the disaster. Chance was the reason I fell over laughing and nearly peed myself. Just thinking about it makes me chuckle.

Chance, who is rubbing Sally contently, looks up to me. A smile plays on his face and he asks. "What are you laughing at, Mel?" He asks me. Oh my God. His smile is infectious!

"Nothing," I mumble trying to hide my smile.

He rolls his eyes. "I'll tickle you if you don't tell me."

"Don't you dare!" I glare at him. I'm very ticklish. I'd probably kick him in the face if he did. By accident, obviously...

He stands up and starts to walk towards me. I take a step back. His face filled with amusement and happiness. "Are you going to tell me?" He questions.

I shake my head. "It's not important," I tell him.

"Fine." He sighs and turns away. I thank the heavens that he doesn't try to tickle me. That would've end disastrous. I wipe away the 'sweat' that gathers around my forehead.

"I actually thought you were going to tickle me," I say and laugh awkwardly.

He smiles and laughs along with me. "That's funny because you were right." Before I know, I'm picked up by Chance and brought to the ground. His arms tickle every part of my stomach.
