A screeching noise makes me bolt upright from my bed. My eyes are so blurry and it doesn't want to open yet so I start to feel around for my phone and find it at the end of my bed. I keep swiping but the alarm doesn't stop going off. My eyes adjust and there is no alarm to turn off but my phone is still making a noise.
"TURN IT OFF" Luca says groaning next to me still with leg over my legs. It's the shock of seeing him there that wakes me up completely. I'm sleeping over. Checking the time, it's 01:43, why is my phone yelling at this time?
Only after turning off my phone I realise it's not my phone, it's the card I stuck to the back of the phone cover, its four flashing exclamation marks. A KNIGHTS EMERGENCY! At the bottom it says Ava Hayes, she made the call, shit.
"LUCA!! BITCH!! Knights Call, YOUR SISTER!!" I scream while kicking him off the bed and jumping out myself, before we know it the both of us are out the door barefooted, and bare-chested, well Luca is, I grabbed a white tank top.
"Stairs take time and through the lobby too" I think for a second that his still asleep but I then see his wings forming on his back, I trust him and jump off the half wall. For a second panic form in me but Luca grabs me below the arms and lowers me and lets me go too soon, and I'm too far from the ground, but I feel the warmth of my energy cover me and I lower a bit slower. The water in the fountain ripples until Quinni comes out of it.
"Where's she?" Quinni asks
"I don't know this is where the alert came from" I say and check my card again to see I'm standing at the red dot, so she's supposed to be here.
Luca lands next to me and I glare at him, in which I just get a grin in reply. His face goes into serious mood, "Mayb-" he gets distracted by something behind me, "Maybe, she's an asshole" He finishes. I turn to look at what he saw, and I see Ava standing near a pillar in the dark of the path around the courtyard, she comes closer with a gleeful smile and bright face.
"Hii Guys. What are you upto so late?" She askes sarcastically, probably knowing dam well that we we're asleep. Quinni groans and disappears back into the water. Ignoring Luca and Quinni's reactions, I completely forget about sleep and go to hug Ava.
"I'm so glad you're okay" I say. I squeeze her and she hugs me. I regret it immediately though as I get that uncomfortable goosebumps feeling on my arms and back where she touches me. Okay no more hugs I guess. werq.
"I'm so glad you were there to protect me. Thank You so much dude. I mean it's supposed to be like your job and whatever but you still had like a choice and you choice to help me, and to put your life in danger dude thank you so so much" She says like a freight train.
"It's cool, I know you would do the same for me" I say and her face retorts.
"Oh-yeeaaaaaahhhhh. Definitely" she says with an over exaggerated facial expression.
"bitch" is all I mutter, she hears me but doesn't react. She turns to my side to Luca, I look at him to see his neck muscles loosen, his relieved. I didn't even think about how it mustve bee for him to see his sister like that and that he couldn't do anything, dam. They just nod at each other. UMMMMM, okay. Affection isn't their thing I guess, or at least sibling affection isn't their thing.
"So what happened while I was gone?" She says turning back to me. Me and Luca share a look and he lightly shakes his head, no. And I honor his decision but we mustve made it too obvious cause Ava squeals, "O-M-G!" she points between the two of us, "You guys got it on"
"SHUT UP!" Luca yells the same time I say, "NOPE". We share another look and his face mirrors the heat I feel on my face,
"Mhmm" she agrees clearly unconvinced , her expression quickly goes dark though. "Kai we need to talk about THE GRAY"
