Chapter Seventeen: Tales of the Outcast

Talon Nightshade sat by the campfire, the flickering flames casting long shadows on his face. He turned to Apep, Derek, and Kimi, his eyes narrowing with curiosity. "Who exactly are we helping, and why were you three outcasted by your clans?"

The three outcasts exchanged glances before Derek of the Jackals spoke up. "We're helping the god Set. He promises power and vengeance against those who wronged us."

Apep of the Snakes leaned back, his eyes gleaming in the firelight. "As for why we were outcasted... It's a long story."

Kimi of the Cats nodded, her expression turning somber. "But if you're to trust us and we're to trust you, it's a story you need to hear."

Derek took a deep breath and began. "I was once a respected member of the Jackals, known for my cunning and strategy. But I was framed for a crime I didn't commit - the theft of a sacred artifact. They cast me out, believing I had betrayed them. In truth, it was another member who sought to take my place."

Apep continued, his voice a low hiss. "My story is similar. I was a high-ranking member of the Snakes, skilled in the ancient arts of illusion and venom. But I discovered a plot against our leader and tried to expose it. Instead, they turned on me, accusing me of treason and exiling me from the clan."

Kimi sighed, her eyes reflecting the pain of her past. "I was the chief scout of the Cats, known for my agility and sharp senses. But I uncovered a secret - our leader was making deals with our enemies, betraying our clan's trust. When I confronted them, they framed me for espionage and had me exiled."

Talon listened intently, absorbing their stories. "And now you seek revenge? Power?"
