Poonam's POV
Finally, I'm here. Standing outside my dream college with my husband beside me. He gave me a smile and handed me, my bag and show thumbs up for this wonderful start. I couldn't summoned up myself to respond, so just gave him a peck on his cheeks and ran inside my campus and i turned back to wabe, making him wave back excitedly. Yes now I've started behaving little free with him, why not after all he's my sabkuch(evrything).
This campus is huge and students there seem to be from well to do and modern family.Suddenly a girl came to me and asked, "what's your name?"
"Sorry, I don't know english much" I tried to answer in my broken english.
"Oh, Gaonwali ho, toh tumse kya umeed" She taunted me.
(Oh, you are From village. I don't have any expectations from me)
How mean, even if I'm from a village but I'm here because of my capability and my husband's support. "Toh kya hua agr hum gaaonwale hai? Apki tarah humne bhi NEET pass kiya hai aur is college mein apni mehnat se aaye hai" I replied to her while holding my emotions back.
(So what, if I'm from village? I have also passed the NEET like you have and I'm in this college on my own hard work)
"Ab tum mujhe sikhaogi huh? Oh wait, you are married? " She asked me with her raised brows.
(Now you'll teach me huh? Oh wait, you are married?)
I nodded my head in approval and suddenly she started shouting and gaining everyone's attention to us, "GUYS WE HAVE A BEHNJI OOPS AUNTY JI HERE, HAHA"
Soon the campus was filled with laughter. What is there to laugh about? Is it a crime that I'm married and studying?
"Oh my god, how- oops tumhe toh english nhi aati toh lemme ask in HINDI. Tumhara pati tumhe padhne deta hai haha, ya fir sirf apne kaam karwata hai. Don't tell me tum riswat deke aayi ho, because shadi ke baad kon pad Pata hai especially girls from villages like you. Aunty ji, it's better if you cook and make babies, don't study." Another girl from them said this to me and the crowd started laughing at her disgusting comment.
(Omg, how- oops you don't know english, let me speak in HINDI then. Does your husband let you study haha, or he only makes you do his works? Don't tell me that you are here after giving money because after marriage who study especially girls like you from villages? Aunty ji, it's better If you cook and make babies, don't study. Haha)
I controlled myself and step forward to the girl who had first approached me and said while looking straight into her eyes, "Haan, hai hum shadisudha and hume is baat pr koi sharm nhi hai kyuki agr aaj hum yahan hai toh sirf humare pati ki wjh se. Unhone hume padaya, poore pariwaar se ladkr and humara humesha sath diya. Aur baat bacho ki toh haan hum banenge unke bache ki maa, par jab hum chahenge. Tum sab ko koi jrurat nhi h hume batane ki hume bacha paida krna chaiye ki nhi, kyuki wo Humara personal matter hai. rahi baat humare yahan hone ki toh, usko proof humari degree kregi. Aur waise bhi college ke end hone tk toh pta hi chl jayega, ki kon apne paise se yahan aaya hai aur kon mehnat se. Aur Humare samne toh yeh sab bol diya, magar humare pati ke samne mt khaiyega kyuki unhe nhi pasand agr koi humse kuch bhi ulta kahe. Hum dhamki nhi de rhe bs apne paas koi kalesh nhi chahte.
(Yes, I'm married and i don't feel embarrassed by this because if today I'm here only because of my husband. He made me study, going against his family and supported me. And about babies, so yeah I'll be his babies mother but when I'll want to be. You guys have no need to tell me that when I should have baby or not, because it's my personal matter. And about my being here so it's proof will be my degree. And even though till we'll finish college, we'll be able to know that who had used his money or hardwork to be here. And you have said these things to me but don't say it in front of my husband, because he doesn't like if someone misbehaves with me. I'm not threatening you guys, I just don't want any fight around me.)
Students who were laughing a while ago, turned silent now and I left from there to take my schedule from the counter. I don't know why I was wasting my time with those bewakoofs (fools), I'm just here to study and be a doctor and make my puchka ji and Baba proud.
Time skip
I was sitting in canteen as my classes are almost done just the last one is left. I took out my lunch box from my bag and it was specially prepared by Maaiya for me, even though she's my husband's badi mummy but still loves me the most. I started having my lunch and suddenly started missing him. And suddenly I remembered the day when we both had come home after filling form of NEET.
Actually at first, I just wanted to have a college degree and i thought that with that graduation degree, I could be a doctor but Rudra bhaiya told me about the real process and said that if I want to be a doctor then I have to give NEET examination and the way he described the test, I got scared and refused to do anything but my puchka ji made me understand that 'there is nothing easy in life, you have to do hard work for everything and hard work makes us reach to our goal he's the reason that I'm here today. I started preparing for my examination but the family(only oldies except Rachna maa) didn't support me and they started deliberately disturbing and distracting me from studies. So Kaushal ji sent me to PG with Divya and we was living separately till my exam was over and the day I gave my NEET examination, I straight-ly went to our house with him. Yes i couldn't even wait for a single second to go to him and maybe because of this separation, I became bold and open to him.
I had passed my examination and got the all India rank 230 in 2010, it was too shocking for me and for everyone. I took admission in AIIMS (not delhi AIIMS) and today is my first day and honestly, it feels surreal to be here.
Poonam's POV ends
Unaware of her surrounding, she left the canteen to attend her last class but a pair of eyes were watching her from the moment she had entered inside the college. He looking at her like a predator looks at his prey.
