The Phoenix Reborn

In the grand halls of Rosaria, your laughter mingled with Joshua's, creating an echo that spoke of innocent joy and a future full of promise. You were betrothed to Joshua Rosfield, the younger son of Archduke Elwin Rosfield, a bond forged both in childhood friendship and familial alliance. Your parents, loyal to the Rosfield family, had seen the potential of a union that would strengthen the bonds of Rosaria.

Joshua was your constant companion. His gentle eyes held a kindness that was rare, even among the nobility. You spent your days exploring the castle, dreaming of a future where you would rule by his side, leading Rosaria into a golden age. The Phoenix, the symbol of Rosaria's eternal flame, was a beacon of hope and strength, a reminder of the power that Joshua would one day wield.

The night of the Phoenix Gate incident started like any other celebration, with music and laughter filling the air. You and Joshua had sneaked away from the festivities, finding a quiet spot near the gate to watch the stars. The night was clear, the constellations above a map of your shared dreams and whispered promises.

But then, chaos erupted. Flames burst forth from the gate, but it wasn't the comforting glow of the Phoenix you were used to. These were wild, uncontrollable flames that tore through the night, bringing with them screams of terror and the scent of burning.

"Joshua, what's happening?" you cried, clutching his hand as the inferno raged.

"I don't know, but we need to find my father," Joshua replied, his voice trembling with fear and determination.

As you made your way through the chaos, you were separated in the panic. The last thing you saw was Joshua being engulfed by flames, his eyes wide with shock and pain. You screamed his name, but the fire swallowed your voice, leaving you with the searing image of his disappearance.

Thirteen years passed, but the memory of that night never left you. Joshua's loss had left a void in your heart, a wound that time could not heal. You became a woman driven by a single purpose: to uncover the truth of what happened that night at Phoenix Gate.

Your journey led you back to the charred ruins of the gate. The once grand structure was now a haunting reminder of your lost love and the life you had planned together. Determined, you searched for any clue that could explain the tragedy that had taken him from you.

It was during one of these searches that you noticed a cloaked figure moving through the ruins. Your heart pounded with a mix of fear and curiosity. Was this a bandit scavenging among the wreckage? You decided to confront the figure, hoping they might have information.

"Hey! Stop!" you shouted, drawing your dagger as you gave chase.

The figure moved swiftly, but you were relentless. You cornered them in a narrow alleyway, the tip of your blade pressing against their back.

"Turn around," you demanded.

The figure complied, slowly lowering their hood. Your breath caught in your throat as you stared into the eyes you thought you'd never see again.

"Joshua?" you whispered, your voice trembling with a mixture of shock and fury.

"Y/N," Joshua said softly, his voice filled with a sorrow that mirrored your own.

"How... How are you alive?" you demanded, anger boiling over. "I thought you were dead! Thirteen years, Joshua! I mourned you!"

"I'm sorry," he replied, his eyes pleading for understanding. "I had to disappear. It was the only way to survive and find the truth."
