Stars Above, Home Below
The journey had been long and fraught with battles and sacrifices, but peace had finally settled over Eos. Noctis had survived the prophecy, and the kingdom of Lucis flourished under his reign. Amidst this newfound tranquility, you and Prompto were starting a new chapter in your lives.
You and Prompto had been inseparable since the days of the Crownsguard, and now you were about to embark on the most exciting adventure of all: parenthood. The news of your pregnancy had been met with joy and excitement by your close-knit group of friends. The baby's arrival was imminent, and it was time to prepare the nursery in your new four-bedroom house.
Your home was a cozy sanctuary on the outskirts of Insomnia. The sun was shining, and birds were chirping as you and Prompto, with the help of Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus, prepared to set up the baby's room. You stood in the doorway of the nursery, still bare except for a few boxes of baby furniture and supplies.
Prompto's hand slipped into yours, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Alright, Y/N, where should we start?" he asked, his blue eyes sparkling with excitement.
You glanced around the room, envisioning the cozy space it would soon become. "Let's start with the crib. It's the most important piece."
Prompto nodded and began unpacking the crib parts while you read the instructions. Moments later, Noctis strolled in, carrying a bag of tools over his shoulder. He flashed a grin as he entered the room. "Need a hand, you two?"
"Definitely," you replied with a smile. "We're just getting started with the crib."
Ignis followed Noctis, carrying a box labeled "Baby Bedding." "I've brought the linens. Once the crib is assembled, we can dress it up properly."
Gladiolus entered last, a large, flat-packed wardrobe balanced on his shoulder. "Got the wardrobe here. Figured it might be handy for all the baby clothes you've been buying."
"Thanks, Gladio," you said, chuckling. "You're right, we do have a lot of clothes to store."
As the group got to work, the room buzzed with activity and conversation. Prompto and Noctis started piecing together the crib, with you holding the instructions and pointing out the next steps.
"Noct, can you pass me that screw?" Prompto asked, holding out his hand.
"Which one?" Noctis responded, eyeing the various screws on the floor.
"The one that looks like a mushroom," you said, suppressing a giggle.
"Ah, got it," Noctis replied, handing it over.
Meanwhile, Ignis and Gladiolus were setting up the wardrobe in the corner of the room. Gladio was adjusting the shelves while Ignis neatly folded the baby clothes and arranged them in the drawers.
"Y/N, I must say, you have an excellent taste in baby clothes," Ignis remarked, holding up a tiny onesie decorated with chocobos.
"Thank you, Ignis. I couldn't resist the chocobos," you said with a laugh.
"Who could?" Gladio added with a grin. "They're adorable."
As the day went on, the nursery began to take shape. The crib, now fully assembled, stood proudly against one wall. You and Prompto hung a mobile above it, the little figures spinning gently in the sunlight. Noctis and Gladio secured the wardrobe in place, while Ignis set up a changing table next to it, arranging the diapers, wipes, and other necessities.
"Okay, everyone, moment of truth," Prompto announced, stepping back to admire their handiwork. "How does it look?"
You took a step back and surveyed the room. It was perfect. The walls were painted a soft, calming shade of blue, decorated with decals of stars and moons. The crib was dressed in a cozy set of bedding, complete with a plush chocobo sitting in one corner. The wardrobe and changing table were neatly organized, and a comfy rocking chair sat by the window, ready for countless nights of lullabies and bedtime stories.
