chapter 5

1st pov~~

A lavish bedchamber, dimly lit by candles. Ranvijay, sits on a chair, his expression uninterested. Concubine 1 Kanchana enters his chamber, dressed in a revealing outfit, approaches him.

She batting her eyelashes said "My king, I have prepared a special dance for you tonight. One that will surely entertain you"

Ranvijay sighing shouts at her"How many times must I tell you,why you  keep coming here,don't you dare to disturb me,leave now"

Kanchana pouting "But, my king, I thought you would feel relaxed if I came here"

Ranvijay coldly "You are not making me relax but raising my temper,get out"

Kanchana anger rising" That's not fair your Majesty, I have tried so hard to learn this dance,just see it once"

Ranvijay shrugging"You are futile,you try to talk in this tone with me,I will send you to cold palace with no servants there"

Ranvijay standing"Gaurds,take this woman out and throw her into cold palace for a month"

Kanchana afraid start sobbing My king you can't do this to me,I m your first wife ,we get married when we were still young you and I.We are together from many years,can't you open your heart for me in all these years"

Ranvijay uninterested in her talks and only furious on her.Gaurds came to take concubine away but before they touch her she storms out herself, with guards behind her.

2nd pov~~

A luxurious bathhouse, steam rising from the water. Ranvijay sits on a stone bench, his eyes closed, as a concubine 2 Aparna, dressed in a seductive outfit,
approaches him.

Aparna gently said "My king, I have prepared a special bath for you, infused with the essence of roses and lavender. It will surely help in sooth."

Ranvijay opening his eyes and coldly "who asked you to do all this?"

Aparna smiling said" I want to show you that I can be more than just a woman who warm your bed. I can be a true companion, a partner in every sense."

Ranvijay skeptical"you really overestimate yourself?"

Aparna said" I will listen to your troubles, your dreams, your desires. I will be your confidante, your friend".

Ranvijay unimpressed"And you think i will tell you my heart content?"

Aparna desperate "But, my king, I am different. I truly care for you."

Ranvijay standing "Enough.You have no modesty a woman should carry,you are acting like a courtesan."

Aparna looks crestfallen he compare her actions to lowly courtesan a prostitute, tears welling up in her eyes, and Ranvijay walks away, leaving her alone in the bathhouse.

3rd pov~~

3 of Concubine wives, each of them trying to win Ranvijay's heart in their own way, but always keep failing miserably. 3rd concubine Samantha enters his bed chamber the chamber is divided in several sections she show Ranvijay in library.

Samantha displaying her artistic talents said"My king, I have painted a beautiful portrait of you, capturing your strength and wisdom."

Ranvijay keep uninterested attitude but she is boasting that she is the most smart and intelligent of other concubine. 

Samantha offering her intellect said" My king, I have studied the ancient texts, and can offer you counsel on matters of state."

Ranvijay uninterested keep looking inside the pages and reading his manuscript.

She feel her presence is not appreciated.She had putted efforts in getting dolled and adjourned but he didn't spare a glance,he only came to her chamber when he is in need of her body,nothing more came from him,she leaves the chamber frowning..

Each concubine fails to win Ranvijay's heart, their attempts met with indifference or dismissal, as he remains unbothered,unaffactioned.

Ranvijay pov~~

Ranvijay thinking to himself "Yes, I was married at 17 and have 3 wives practicing polygamy is a part of royalty and necessity for a kingdom, but it was a political arrangement, nothing more. And these concubines...they mean nothing to me. Just mere political alliance what my royal duty called for."

Ranvijay shouts to his chamber gaurd ording "Never allowed any women in my chamber again.Stop them on the entrance,if you failed .I won't leave you alone"

3rd pov~~

A courtyard, sunny and bright. As Samantha, dressed in a elegant outfit, trips and falls, hurting herself. Ranvijay is present in courtyard he was walking to exist gate of palace and go out, totally ignored her distress.

Samantha hissing in pain"Ahh...my ankle"Ranvijay unfazed Continue walking outside .Samantha thinking to herself "He will come to my aid, he will show me compassion."

Ranvijay walks away, leaving her to struggle facing the humiliation infront of her maids servant , her face contorted in pain and ashamed.

Samantha thinking"Why doesn't he care? Doesn't he see my suffering?"

Samantha realizing Ranvijay's indifference, struggles to her feet and limps away, tears in her eyes.

Samantha thinking" I am nothing to him. Just a another princess whose father married her off for alliance with him"

Collective Concubines Pov~~

We want his attention and so we can earn his favour be his queen and get the Power and influence as the Queen is the kings closest advisor and confidante, wielding significant political power and influence.

Queen has Security and stability ,Being the king's favorite and queen offered a level of security and stability, as well as protection for her maternal family and loved ones like relatives .

Being queen we will have wealth and luxury.As the queen has access to vast wealth, lavish lifestyle, and luxurious living arrangements.

Queen has Social status.She is considered the highest ranking woman in the land with all other women in the kingdom looking up to her as inferior infront of her.

Queen holds Legitimacy and legacy her position was often seen as a symbol of legitimacy and continuity for the monarchy, with only her sons inheriting the throne or being crown prince .

All Concubines try to win Ranvijay's attention, they think its lower ranking to be just wives ,concubine or mistresses, so they vied for the king's favor to become queen its common practice in royals.

To their elevated status becoming queen meant a significant increase in status, power, and influence.the queen's life are often far more comfortable and secure than that of a concubine.

The competition for the king's favor was intense, as becoming queen offered a chance at a better life, political power and a lasting legacy. This rivalry often led to intrigue, politics, and even betrayal among concubines and other women in the palace who king's favour.

Its nothing new for them to try to get his attention ,for them days to years fades to black, highlighting the stark contrast between Ranvijay's callousness towards each concubines and his all consuming ruthless nature.
