chapter 20

Maanvika and her maid Jaanvi are browsing through a nobel high-end clothing store, surrounded by noble ladies, rich patrons. Suddenly, the Commander Veer and his men storm in, causing a commotion.

As the Commander Veer and his men enter the store,one of the soldier accidentally bumps into an old lady,causing the old lady fall.Maanvika rushes to help her up,and than she turns.

Commander Veer loudly" We have reason to believe the owner of this establishment is involved in treason, Take him away"

Maanvika outraged said"What is the meaning of this?You can't just barge in here and cause a scene"

Her maid firmly whispered "My lady please, stay out of this."

Maanvika scolding said to Veer "How can you do this? You're scaring innocent people,Can't you see they're terrified?"

The noble patrons and army officers watch in shock as Maanvika fearlessly confronts the Commander Veer.

Maanvika angrily said "You're a maybe their Commander,You have no regard for the well-being of others"

Her maid calming her " My lady, enough."

Maanvika defiantly keep saying to Veer "You're soldiers but why you are acting like a tyrant"

The Commander's Veer men move to restrain Maanvika, but Veer raise his hands to shrug them off,Maanvika eyes blazing with determination.

Maanvika fiercely Said"You may have power as a  Commander, but you don't have the right to bully and intimidate"

Maanvika standing tall, her words hanging in the air, as the Commander Veer keep listening her,his soldiers and other present in store stuck with fear.

Maanvika furiously Said"How can you be so careless? This is a public place, and you're causing a scene"

Maanvika continues saying"You're so quick to use your power, but you never think about the people around you"

Maanvika angrily" You're the Commander not a bully, only caring about your own interests, not about the people you're supposed to protect"

Commander Veer he trails off, lost in her eyes.
Commander Veer to himself "She didn't recognize me Maybe she meets so many travelers on the road, she can't remember them all. But I... I can't forget her. (pauses) I've tried to,her on lake that day, I've tried. But that spark in her eyes, that awe in her spirit... it's etched in my mind forever.He looks down, his eyes tracing the pattern on the floor.

Commander Veer in his mind racing"I thought I'd never see her again. But fate  let me meet her once more."

Maanvika fiercely Said"your soldier hit a old lady,You're just as guilty as he is"

In store the murmur of other nobel ladies"Nobody can talk to him in this tone but she did. And with such conviction."

Commander Veer kept looking into her eyes, seeing the fire burning within them.

Maanvika's maid Jaanvi rushes over, apologizing profusely "Sorry Commander " she tries to drag Maanvika away.

Maid Jaanvi frantically" Please forgive my lady, Commander, She's new to this town, she doesn't know you... she doesn't know the ways here... please, have mercy"

Maanvika struggling from her grip,she keep glaring at Veer .

Maid Jaanvi firmly" My lady, please,Come with me"

The maid Jaanvi finally manages to pull Maanvika away.

Veer looks after Maanvika as she's dragged out of the store, his eyes lingering on her fiery spirit.
