This is an eminence in shadow fanfiction i made with main significance on the john smith arc of season two.
If you haven't watched it, i suggest you do or get a general overview of the plot.

You'll enjoy this fanfiction better if you do.

She stood up and slipped on a pool of her blood again, the air heavy with the smell of the concentrating liquid.

Blood spewed out continuously from the wound but she bulled through, glaring at me with maddening eyes that promised a fate worse than what i had done to her.

'Sh*t sh*t sh*t !' I cursed inwardly, swiftly strafing left and right; dodging her attacks without using any of my strings - not that i needed to, the blood loss has substantially slowed down her speed and attacks.

I gazed at her through the mask in shock and suprise, still shaken by the fact that she had lacerated her body through the strings without a thought for her wellbeing just to get to me.

Finally she relented, panting lightly with her arms hanging limply by her side, glaring at me intently - her frenzied grin slowly tapering off.

The blood loss was taking its toll it would seem.

"Must .... kill ... John smith." She whispered, attempting to re-strengthen her resolve by repeating her orders.

I bit my lip in pain and anger, struggling to  prevent my emotions from taking control of me and barking at her; reprimanding her severely for her stupidity and stubborness in combat.

She wasn't going to win. We both knew that - then why wasn't she calling a retreat.

A very valuable lesson i overemphasized and stressed over repeated to my girls was that in the event of them facing a far stronger and superior opponent - they are to always retreat and save themselves; allowing "shadow" (me) to take the matter into my hands when i was ready to do so.

Then why wasn't she obeying that ?

Was she just plain stupid ?

I stood up tall, reaffirming my persona: john smith to jolt her memory a bit and help her with the decision.

She flinched, her posture tightening as i moved - baring her teeth and brandishing her claws in readiness.

Too slow ...., she reacted too slowly.

"You're weak." I stated, eyeing her through the mask as i brandished my threads.

"Walk away and allow your master "shadow" to handle this." I added, grating the threads together in warning.

Her teeth bared wider still in a feral sneer at my statement. I smiled internally .... hoping that it had worked.

She lunged at me with her claws again, much to my disappointment.

"Will not dissappoint shadow garden." She whispered through clenched teeth, as she flew into a flurry of attacks that were painfully easy to see through.

"... Will not dissappoint master shadow."

I clenched my teeth in anger, struggling really hard now to prevent my persona from slipping.

" ... must bring down john smith."

'Enough was enough' i resolved.

I dashed inwards with astounding speed, straight into her personal space; using my abilities to the fullest.

Her eyes widened in suprise, a realization washing over her as i struck her swiftly in the pressure points with the tip of my palms.

She hobbled backwards, staggering in shock as she gazed at me intently, her expression replaced with a more docile one - trying to ascertain if her suspicions were correct.

'Sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t' i mentally cursed again, understanding that she may have possibly caught a glimpse of a purple light streak that i had left during the attack.

She took a few sniffs; trying to use her sense of smell in inquiry.

I flicked my threads subtlely, dispersing my scent with the ripple of the wind, effectively nullifying that approach.

She gazed at me intently, her purple eyes boring into me - still unconvinced even with the absence of scent.

"Master .... ?" She timidly called out, pleading for an answer.

I mentally closed my eyes, face palming in dissappointment as i struggled to push down the feelings of guilt welling up inside me.

I smiled evily, retracting my threads away; playing the part admirably as i walked closer to her.

"Master ... ?"

"Could you .... possibly .... have hit your head on something ?" I asked, grasping my chin in mock fascination.

Her expression fell, the hope and excitement present on her features dashing to pieces as my words sank in.

I gazed downwards behind the mask as well, resolving to make it up to her and treat her nicely after this.

She slowly collapsed onto the metal roof of the train with a thud, her eyes half lidded as the effects of my former attack crept in.

I breathed a sigh of relief, her breath evening out as she slowly eased into sleep.
