Child of Feelings
I am a child born of feelings.
But they often get hurt.
See, I was raised that way,
Brought up on that golden rule:
"Treat others the way you want to be treated."
To me, that meant not to hurt people's feelings,
Not to step on anybody's toes,
Not to cross the line and make someone feel worthless.
It meant to stay in my place,
That was a child's place.
As a child, I was okay with that
,Until my feelings grew old
,More complex,
More deep,More than a "yes ma'am" or a "no ma'am,"
But a "I also demand respect too."
See, I was a child born on feelings.
I can tell when a person is not listening from their tone and their posture
,When they hear the words you're saying but it's not sinking in.
See, I was a child born of feelings,So I know how it hurts.
