"I'm totally fucked. She said she wanted to go slow, and I totally freaked her out. Now she won't come. Of course she won't come, I did exactly what she told me she didn't want." I say, breathing heavily as I pace around the living room.
"You shouldn't have given her a choice in the first place. She's a human, she can't feel our bond. She won't come, and then we'll be totally depressed for the rest of our lives. And she will too, without even knowing why. We can't do that to her."
Blair has been getting on my nerves more than ever since I met Elle, but since last night it has been worse than ever.
"Calm down, she'll be here." Ezra says.
"No she won't." I glance at the clock. She should've been here minutes ago.
"What if something happened? Maybe her car crashed, or maybe she got kidnapped on her way out?"
"I need to go to her house. I can't handle this."
"Damian, stop. She's three minutes late." Ezra says.
"Maybe she's still making up her mind about all of this. Of course she needs time, you should understand that. Barging into her house because she isn't exactly on time is the perfect way to ruin everything in one night." Benjamin adds.
That makes me stop in my tracks. "You're right." I should wait, if she doesn't come, that's her choice. I trust her to do what she needs.
I sit on the couch in silence for around ten more excruciating minutes. My leg hasn't stood still on the floor for a single second. I'm still rubbing my hands on my temples when someone knocks on the door.
Immediately I'm there and I take a deep breath before I swing it open in one movement.
There she is: Elle is standing in the hallway, her hair framing her pale face as she looks up at me with those gorgeous green eyes. She's wearing a black dress with tights to keep her legs warm and black flats. In one of her hands, she carries a seemingly new purse. Also black.
The need to crush her into a hug is so intense that, at that moment, I realise I will never let anyone else have her. Forget about giving her a choice. I need her and I don't care about anything else. I don't care if it's selfish, I can't live if I don't have her.
She looks up at me, and I grab the door frame for support.
"I'm sorry I'm late. My parents came home, so I wanted to spend some time with them." She says, a light smile dancing around her pretty lips. "They brought gifts."
She lifts the bag to show it.
I try to return her smile. "So... does this mean... ?"
"Yes, Damian, I want you." She says, looking confident, as if she made up her mind.
In less than seconds I have her pressed against the wall, my lips crashing on hers as she kisses me back, surprisingly needy. One of her hands moves up my arm until it rests on the back of my neck, her other hand still clamping the handbag.
Never did I expect it to feel this good. I guess the whole mate-thing isn't overrated. If anything: no one could've prepared me for this.
I let my right hand slip down to her hip, resting it on the curves of her body. My other hand rises up her side, towards her back, so I'm holding onto the back of her shoulder as I feel her tongue lightly touch my lips. I can't help the little grunt that escapes me as I immediately agree and roughly push her lips apart with mine, granting me entrance to explore her mouth.
I have no idea how much time passes as I'm losing myself in her, it can't have been long when she pulls away, grabbing her phone to turn down a call.
"They gave me a ride. I just need to text them I'm okay."
