QUENTIN'S LOFT APARTMENT
new york, new york
june 21, 2024
friday
9pm

quentin's party. there was nothing like a party thrown by quentin owens. he always invites the best people, has the best shit and overall makes it the best place to be on a friday night.

with evan, i walked into the loft apartment that i knew all too well. i pushed my way through the swarm of people. the music was blasting loudly and the air was hot and muggy with a layer of sweat. all of the lights from different lamps and the windows were dimmed low, creating more of an intimate atmosphere.

evan's hand rested on the small of my back as we walked. i looked at him, his pink buzz cut looked perfect in this lighting and his brown eyes appearing darker in the low lighting.

he smiled at me and bent down a bit so i could hear his voice over the music. "you want anything to drink?" he yelled above the music. i nodded, yelling back that i wanted just a vodka cran.

evan nodded in response and led me through the hordes of people. once we reached the bar counter of the kitchen, evan leaned against it and signaled the bar tender to his attention.

while evan ordered my drink, i glanced around, examining the room. i saw different people from different areas of my life. friends, rappers, rich socialites, models, all in this same room.

"i'll be back! i'm gonna try and find quentin!" i yelled to evan who could barely hear me over the music.

"what'd you say?" evan yelled back, only able to catch the end of my sentence. i repeated myself before he nodded and i took that as a sign that he understood me.

i turned from him, my eyes focusing on trying to spot my friend quentin, the host of this party. i scanned the area, only seeing a bunch of people that weren't him.

i continued to look, getting a bit frustrated. suddenly, my eyes came across a familiar messy head of dark hair. quentin.

i pushed past the people in my way before i approached him. a smile came to my face as i got closer to him. "quentin!" i exclaimed, his head whipping to my direction.

a wide smile appeared on quentin's face once his eyes landed on me. he looked me up and down quickly with a teasing glint in his eyes. "jodie, glad you finally decided to show up." he joked.

i playfully rolled my eyes before shoving his shoulder lightly. "give me a break." i retorted with a small chuckle.

quentin kept his eyes on me, his gaze unwavering. he was definitely checking me out. "you know i have to say, you look hot." he said simply with a small smirk.

i chuckled softly and shook my head, a small flush coming to my cheeks. "you better hope evan didn't hear that." i said before adjusting my top slightly.

quentin scoffed, running his fingers through his messy dark hair. "ah, who gives a shit what evan hears? he'd probably think that i'm only joking when i compliment you. he clearly doesn't know what we have." he said nonchalantly.

i pursed my lips, trying to hide a smile. me and quentin hooked up a couple of times with no strings attached but both of our friends still didn't know about it.

i leaned my back against the wall, my body turned towards him as i looked at him. "you're going to make evan suspicious if you keep looking at me like that, you know." i mused, my voice purposely flirty.

"let him be suspicious then." quentin said with a shrug as he leaned closer to me, getting into my space. his voice dropped an octave as he went on. "i just can't help it, you look too good tonight."
