BLAIR TOOK ONE LAST LOOK AT herself in the mirror before grabbing her belongings and rushing to the car, where her mother was waiting for her.
charlotte was listening to one of her favourite songs as waited. she had insisted on driving blair to the party.
"are you ready to go?" she asked as blair got into the passenger's seat.
"yep" blair replied. "i love this song"
she was referring to the charli xcx song that was blasting through the car.
"me too" charlotte said, typing the address into her phone.
"remember, text me before midnight and i'll come and get you, but if you get a ride home it has to be from someone maddy trusts. oh and please don't drink, but if you really want to, just be careful of how much you drink" charlotte instructed.
blair nodded along, making a mental note.
she had heard from maddy that the person hosting the party was a boy named mckay, her friend's boyfriend. his house was only a few blocks away from blair and charlotte's.
"okay, have fun" charlotte said as she parked outside the house.
"thank you mum. love you" blair gave her mum a hug before stepping out of the car.
"love you too" charlotte said.
blair took a step towards the house, taking in the view of people mingling outside the house, drinks and cigarettes in their hands.
she watched as her mum drove away, leaving her alone. she sent a quick text to maddy, letting her know that she was there.
just as blair was making her way inside the overcrowded house, maddy appeared, throwing her arms around blair. it took blair a second to react, then she wrapped her arms around maddy as well.
"i'm so glad you came" maddy said with a smile.
"of course" blair smiled back.
"come on, i'll introduce you to my friends" maddy said, grabbing blair's hand and pulling her inside.
