Finn Bálor lay in bed, the night softly enveloping their room. Rebecca nestled beside him, her head resting on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. The baby monitor on the nightstand emitted soft static, a reminder of their sleeping daughter in the next room. Finn absentmindedly stroked Rebecca's hair, his mind drifting through the events of the day.
Rebecca sighed contentedly but then shifted slightly, her thoughts turning more serious. "Finn," she began hesitantly, "can I ask you something?"
Finn tilted his head to look down at her, his eyes filled with curiosity. "Of course, love. What's on your mind?"
She bit her lip, as if unsure of how to phrase her question. "If the end of the world were here... where would you choose to be?"
The question caught him off guard. He paused, considering the gravity of her words. "I guess I'd want to be wherever you and our daughter are," he finally answered. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be."
Rebecca's eyes welled up with tears, but she quickly blinked them away. "You mean that?" she whispered, her voice shaky.
Finn nodded, pulling her closer. "Absolutely. You and our little girl are everything to me. Why would I want to be anywhere else?"
Rebecca took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. "It's just... I'm so scared sometimes. Scared that one day you'll leave, like all the others did. Men have a way of walking out when things get tough."
Finn's heart ached at her confession. He knew about her past relationships, how she'd been left to fend for herself and her daughter. He gently lifted her chin, making sure she was looking into his eyes. "Rebecca, I'm not going anywhere. I love you, and I love our family. Whatever happens, we'll face it together."
She nodded, a small smile breaking through her tears. "I believe you, Finn. It's just hard to shake off those fears sometimes."
"I know," he replied softly. "But I'm here to help you through them. We're a team, remember?"
Rebecca nestled back against his chest, feeling the warmth of his embrace. "I remember," she whispered.
Finn held her close, his mind wandering back to the first time they met. It was at a WWE event, where he was performing, and she was there with friends. He noticed her in the crowd, her smile lighting up the room. After his match, he made it a point to find her, and they struck up a conversation. That conversation turned into a date, and before long, they were inseparable.
Rebecca had been upfront about her past from the beginning. She told him about her daughter, the struggles of being a single mother, and the heartbreak she'd endured. Finn admired her strength and resilience. He knew from the start that he wanted to be the man who stood by her side, who supported her through thick and thin.
Their relationship wasn't without its challenges. Finn's career demanded a lot of his time, with constant travel and grueling schedules. But he made sure to prioritize Rebecca and her daughter, carving out time for family whenever he could. He cherished the moments they spent together, whether it was a quiet evening at home or a day out at the park.
Rebecca, for her part, was incredibly understanding of Finn's career. She knew how important it was to him, and she supported him wholeheartedly. But there were times when the distance and uncertainty took a toll on her. Nights like this, when she needed reassurance that he was truly committed to their future.
Finn gently kissed the top of her head. "You know, I've faced a lot of tough opponents in the ring. But nothing compares to the challenge of being a good partner and father. It's something I take very seriously."
Rebecca smiled against his chest. "You're doing a great job, Finn. More than I ever could have hoped for."
"Thank you," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "That means a lot to me."
They lay in comfortable silence for a while, the gentle hum of the baby monitor a soothing backdrop. Finn's thoughts drifted to their daughter, a bright and curious little girl who had stolen his heart from the moment he met her. He loved watching her grow, seeing her personality develop. He felt a deep sense of responsibility to be the best father he could be.
Rebecca broke the silence, her voice soft and contemplative. "Do you ever think about the future, Finn? About what it will be like years from now?"
"All the time," he admitted. "I think about watching our daughter grow up, about all the milestones we'll get to share. I think about the life we're building together, and it makes me happy."
She nodded, a wistful smile on her lips. "Me too. I just want us to have a happy, stable life. For her to feel loved and secure."
"We will," Finn assured her. "We'll give her the best life we can. And we'll do it together."
Rebecca snuggled closer, feeling the weight of her worries lift slightly. "I love you, Finn."
"I love you too, Rebecca," he replied, his voice filled with emotion. "More than anything."
As they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Finn felt a profound sense of peace. He knew that life would have its ups and downs, but he was determined to face them with Rebecca by his side. They were a team, and together, they could handle anything.
The night deepened, and eventually, Rebecca's breathing grew steady and even as she drifted off to sleep. Finn stayed awake a little longer, savoring the quiet moments, the warmth of her body next to his. He thought about their journey, the challenges they'd faced, and the love that had grown between them.
He knew that there would always be uncertainties in life, but he also knew that their love was strong enough to withstand anything. As long as they had each other, they could navigate any storm.
With that comforting thought, Finn finally closed his eyes, allowing sleep to claim him. And in the quiet darkness, with Rebecca in his arms and their daughter sleeping soundly in the next room, he felt truly content.
The future was unknown, but for now, he had everything he needed right here. And that was more than enough
