Chap 8 - Arcade

It's been a week since Griffin disappeared, I'm starting to lose hope in finding him. It was a boring Saturday I was walking towards the Grab 'n' Go, missing posters of Griffin was plastered on the fences, my heart couldn't help but ache at the sight of the posters, is he really gone I thought.

I walk into Grab 'n' Go seeing Vance in his usual spot, the pinball machine. I sighed as I went to the ice cream freezer to buy a popsicle since it was pretty hot. I glanced at Vance he seemed to out of quarters since he was rummaging in his pockets. After I paid for my popsicle then went out. I didn't start walking home since it was too hot, so I sat at the sidewalk eating my pop. "Hey" I jumped at the voice "Why do you keep getting startled" Vance said as he sat down next to me "Uh out of quarters?" I asked "yeah" he said very blunt. "I don't have any-" "I don't need your charity" he said, "But you asked last time" I muttered under my breath. "What did you say" He shouted turning his head towards me his brows furrowed "Nothing!" I said as I skootched away from him a bit and he sat closer "Uh" He scratched the back of his neck, and I tilted my head "There's an arcade" "And?" "I am getting there dipshit" He rolled his eyes "Like I said there's an arcade and non of my friends are free so come with me" He stood up "Oh alright' As I also stood up dusting off my jeans. 

We got to the arcade, of course Vance was at the pinball machine, he wouldn't even try the other games. I got bored watching him play so I started walking around to find a game to play. Then I bumped into someone.

WHY DO I KEEP BUMPING INTO PEOPLE AGHHHHHH

"I'm so sorry" I said backing away a bit and I looked up, thank God it wasn't Bruce again. "It's fine" He smirked grabbing my waist "What's you name cutie" he pulled me closer "Don't call me that gross" I said. Then a hand pulled me away I look up and it was Vance? "Oh shit sorry Vance didn't know she was your girlfriend" I almost choked on air when I heard girlfriend, but Vance didn't say anything, the guy just ran away. Vance walked back to his machine, I continued to search but the word 'girlfriend' left my head and the fact he didn't say anything. Vance was out of tokens, I wasn't (Probably wasted his on the pinball machine). I was still playing Donkey Kong "Give me tokens" Vance demanded "Pockets" I said, I was too focused on my game, and I didn't want to lose. I was surprised he actually reached in my pocket.  

After I finished Donkey Kong I was looking around for Vance, I saw him at the pinball machine again. I walked up to him I noticed there was a small stuff toy on the chair next to him "FUCK!" He kicked the foot of the machine "Anger issues much?" I muttered "Ah your here finally" He said as he took the stuff toy and shoved it at me "I played the dumb claw machine and I won this at the first try" His face was full of pride, But I knew he was having a hard time with that claw machine since I heard him cussing it a few times "OH I love F/A" I said looking at the stuffie. "let's go, I'm hungry" he said as he started walking away hands in his pockets as I caught up with him hugging the stuff toy with one arm.  

We went to a nearby diner. "Do you go here often?" I asked him as I sat beside him putting the stuff toy between us "My mom owns this place" he said as looked down on the stuffie. A waitress walks up to us "Hello! what can I get y'all- wait! Vance?" The waitress turned around and went into the kitchen, Vance groaned as he ran his fingers through his mop of a hair as I just muffled a laugh.  After a while a woman with long curly hair and looked a bit like Vance walked out of the kitchen (I assumed that was Vance's mother, now I know where he got his looks from) "Vancey!" She said hugging Vance "Oh and she must be your girlfriend" His mother smiled at me, I decided to play along just to get a reaction out of Vance "Yes ma'am I am" I stood up and shook her hand while smiling "She's polite too, how did you end up dating my son" I sat back down and looked at Vance he seemed a bit flustered "I was just joking ma'am I'm not really his girlfriend" I smiled "Oh what a shame" she said in a disappointed tone of voice "Anyways order what you'd like it's on the house" She smiled as she went back to the kitchen. "Why'd you do that?" He folded his arms to his chest "Just to get a reaction out of you" I replied.

After we ate, we left. He walked me to my house "Thanks Vance" I smiled as I gave him a small hug and he just patted my back "whatever" I pulled away "See you later" I smiled then entered my house. "You seem happy" Leo was talking to me from the living room "Shut up" I couldn't help but let out a giddy smile as I went upstairs to my room. I look at the stuffie Vance gave me, I guess his not as tough as his looks. 

I change into my PJs and went to sleep hugging the stuff toy.
