Chapter 14: The Aftermath

Stella's P.O.V.

I stumbled into Rei's dorm room, dripping wet and shivering. The rain had soaked through every layer of clothing, plastering my hair to my face and making my shoes squelch with every step. Rei looked up from her desk, her eyes widening in shock.

"Stella! What the hell happened to you?!" she exclaimed, rushing over to me. "Why are you out in this weather so late?"

I tried to smile, but it felt more like a grimace.

Rei grabbed a towel and started patting me dry, her concern evident. "Sit down, for God's sake. You're going to catch a cold."

I sat on her bed, my hands trembling as I took the offered towel and tried to dry my hair. Rei's eyes never left my face, her worry deepening with each passing second.

"Stella, what's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost."

I hesitated, my heart pounding in my chest. The words tumbled out before I could stop them. 

"I kissed my stalker."

Rei's mouth fell open. "You did WHAT?!"

The absurdity of the situation hit me all at once, and I couldn't help but laugh. It was a short, humorless laugh, but it was enough to ease some of the tension.

Rei, however, was not amused. "You kissed your stalker? Are you out of your fucking mind?"

I buried my face in my hands, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks despite the cold. "I didn't plan on it, okay? It just... happened."

"It just happened? IT.... JUST.... HAPPENED???" she was pacing back and forth like a bull. 

"Che Cazzo! Stella he is a a fucking stalker!"

"I KNOW I AM FUCKING CRAZY WHAT WAS I THINKING??" 

"Oh I'll tell you what you were NOT thinking about. Your fucking safety!!" 

"Rei-" 

"No no no no no. Wait... I think I can make sense out of this," she took a deep breath and faced me. 

"Let me get this straight," she took another deep breath. 
"He stalked you?" 
"Umhm" 
"He threatened you?" 
"Yeah-" 
"He sent you a bloody severed finger gore as a birthday present" 
"..." 
"And you kissed him????? NO IT'S NOT MAKING ANY SENSE TO ME OH DIO CRISTO!!!" 

"That's actually not it-" 
"There's more..... fucking god there's more," she slapped her forehead. 

"You remember how my family is connected to the mafia?" 

"No I thought they were doctors, Dio Cristo STELLA I THINK I'LL REMEMBER THAT CRUCIAL PIECE OF INFORMATION CONSIDERING I SAW YOUR DAD IN THE HALLS WITH TWO MEN IN BLACK CHARACTERS WITH REAL GUNS??" 

"And you remember how Leo is connected to the Order of the Umb-"

"-Umbrella I know" 

"Umbra" I corrected again.

"Yeah same thing whatever-" 

"No actually you see, Umbra means shadow and umbrella-"

"-Is something you didn't have on you tonight when you fucking kissed your stalker in the goddamn rain!!!" 

"And you know how I was investigating the stalker and stuff?" 

"I'm not drunk enough for this" She got out a bottle of wine from her mini fridge and poured herself a glass.
