Stella's P.O.V.
It was all part of his plan.
The chase, the encounter, the deal, everything. Every damn thing, it was all his plan.
Kairo started walking down the road, and it was then I discovered how close we were to his base. The walk was tense, a silence filled with unspoken questions and lingering adrenaline from our confrontation. I kept glancing at him, trying to read his expression, but his face was a mask of calm. My mind raced with thoughts of what was to come, of the alliance we had just formed. Was this the right decision? Not like the question mattered anymore. I was already head deep into the waters.
We arrived at the industrial area, the surroundings bleak and foreboding. The warehouse looked like any other from the outside, a nondescript building with no signs of life inside, except maybe heavy machinery I had guessed. Kairo made a quick call, and within minutes, a tow truck arrived to take our wrecked cars away for repair.
Efficient, I thought. He always had everything under control. But that was an understatement.
Kairo led me to the entrance, where a biometric scanner awaited. He pressed his thumb to the scanner, and a soft beep indicated our access. The heavy metal door swung open, revealing a whole new world.
My eyes widened to take in the view that laid in front of me.
"What the actual fuck?" I cursed under my breath, which Kairo must've heard because he chuckled darkly.
"Welcome to the base Cara-mia"
Inside, the warehouse transformed into a technological wonderland. Bright lights illuminated the space, casting a sterile glow on rows upon rows of people working behind computers and screens. The air hummed with the low buzz of machinery and the quiet murmur of voices, a constant flow of information and activity.
I followed Kairo through the main floor, my eyes wide with awe and curiosity. It was like stepping into another world, one where technology and strategy ruled. The workers barely glanced up as we passed, their focus entirely on their tasks. It was clear this operation ran like a well-oiled machine.
Kairo led me to a room walled by thick glass, situated far from the main hub of activity. The glass was tinted, giving the room a bluish hue. Inside, it looked like a high-tech conference room, complete with sleek tables, monitors, and various pieces of sophisticated equipment. The room was soundproof, a sanctuary of silence amidst the chaos outside.
"This is where we plan our moves," Kairo explained, his voice low and steady. "Every operation, every strategy, it all starts here. This is the nerve center."
I nodded, still taking in the surroundings. "It's impressive," I admitted.
"I didn't expect... this."
He laughed dryly "What did you expect then Stella-mia? A brooding worn down building which reeked of rust and blood?"
"All these people, you... you work with them? And they all taking down the Order?" There must have been more than a hundred people there. So many people collectively working towards one single goal. It must have taken elaborate planning and stealth.
"So many questions love, but I guess they're natural," he grinned.
"No... I don't work with them. They work for me. Dismantling the Order is merely a part of our broader agenda. My organization has numerous objectives, each as vital as the next. However, right now, the Order is our most pressing target." arrogance laced his voice which made me scoff.
