Backstabbing

*Daniel's POV*

I looked at Voulez and saw my face on the cover. Along with the headlines 'Daniel Grayson Leaves Margeaux LeMarchal After Tragic Miscarriage'. I sighed, knowing full well that Margeaux had written this herself and twisted it to look like the breakup was entirely my fault. 

I finished putting on my black bow tie. I was going to David's wedding, even though I hadn't ever been incredibly friendly with him before. I told myself that I was going for my mother, even though, deep down, I knew I was going to see Emily. 

I got into the limosine I had rented and opened Voulez up to read the article Margeaux had written about me. 

'Daniel Grayson Leaves Margeaux LeMarchal After Tragic Miscarriage. LeMarchal had been terribly devastated after the alleged death of Grayson (presumed to be dead earlier in the year). When confronting Emily Thorne, now Emily Porter, on the street outside of Voulez, LeMarchal was placed tragically in harms way of a taxi, which hit her. The blow that nearly killed the young woman took her precious child away instead, sending her into fits of grief. She believed at that point, that that child was the only thing she had left of her beloved Daniel.

'But, after his return while Emily and Jack Porter were off on their romantic honeymoon, she realized she once again had the love of her life back. But not for long. Once Daniel realized she was no longer pregnant with her child, he left her, stating, "I'm so glad Emily took care of you". These parting words make us wonder; did Emily Porter have something to do with the tragic accident involving LeMarchal and a taxi? It would make sense, considering the other factor in the Grayson-LeMarchal breakup was the fact that Grayson was still in love with Mrs. Porter. The two had been married for a short time about a year earlier, ending in a tragic divorce involving an ex-girlfriend of Grayson's. The girl, Sarah, played an important role as the slutty mistress, which just goes to show Grayson's cheating streak. We here at Voulez have to wonder; is there something going on between Emily Porter and Daniel Grayson? Why else would Daniel have broken off the relationship with LeMarchal? How could Emily do this to Jack Porter? When does all this Hamptons drama disappear? More on this subject when we have more information.'

I read and re-read the whole passage until I got to the church the funeral was being held at. I walked in and was instantly greeted by a furious Emily, holding the same Voulez magazine I had read on the way here. 

"What the hell is this, Daniel?" She said. 

"What are you talking about?" I asked, wanting to know what she was mad at me about before I incrimminated myself any further. 

"Placed tragically in harms way of a taxi? I'm so glad Emily took care of you? These parting words make us wonder; did Emiily Porter have something to do with the tragic accident involving LeMarchal and a taxi? Grayson was still in love with Mrs. Porter? Is there something between Emily Porter and Daniel Grayson? What the hell did you say to Margeaux? This throws a shadow over my entire reputation. You need to set the record straight and let everyone know that there is absolutely nothing between us. And in case what Charlotte was saying at the bar rang any truth, you should know that I am married to Jack and I'm not planning on going anywhere. I think you need to be told that just as much as the rest of the world does," Emily said, slamming the magazine into my chest and storming away to greet other people, plastering a smile on her face over all the anger. I was shocked at how she could switch her emotions like the flip of a dime.

I shook my head and walked into the church, sitting down next to my mother and waiting for the funeral to begin.
