"Thanks for tonight, Lily. I had a blast," Jett said with a charming grin as we finished our burgers and milkshakes at the diner.

I grinned back, feeling a rush of exhilaration from the night's adventure. "Same here, Jett. You're not too bad company, I guess."

As we finished our meal, I reached for my card to pay the bill, but Jett swiftly beat me to it, playfully swiping his card before I could protest.

"Hey!" I exclaimed with mock indignation. "I was going to pay this time."

Jett chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "I couldn't let you do that, Lily. Next time, I'll let you treat me."

I raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in my eye. "Oh, really? You might regret saying that."

Jett grinned, his gaze warm. "I look forward to it."

As we walked to the door, we were met with a sudden downpour outside. I looked at Jett with a mix of surprise and dismay, my sweatpants and T-shirt ill-prepared for the rain.

"Well, this is just perfect," I muttered, trying to shield myself from the rain.

Jett laughed, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "Looks like we're in for a wet run back to the track."

He swiftly took off his hoodie and held it out to me. "Here, Lily. Take this. It'll keep you dry."

I accepted the hoodie with a grateful smile, slipping it on and feeling the warmth of Jett's gesture. "Thanks, Jett."

Grabbing my hand, Jett led me outside into the pouring rain. We ran back to the track where our cars were parked, laughing and splashing through puddles along the way.

The rain poured down around us, drenching us both as we chased each other through the parking lot, dodging puddles and playfully trying to shield ourselves from the downpour. Laughter echoed through the empty spaces between the cars, our spirits lifted by the sheer joy of the moment.

As we reached my car, raindrops trickling down our faces and clothes, I turned to Jett, feeling a sense of closeness and excitement despite the weather. "Thanks for the hoodie. And dinner. It was... unexpectedly fun."

Jett grinned, his eyes softening with warmth. "Anytime, Lily. Next time, it's your turn to treat, okay?"

I nodded, a playful smirk on my lips. "Challenge accepted, Jett."

With a final squeeze of my hand, Jett jogged off to his car, leaving me standing in the rain with a heart racing from more than just the evening's excitement.
