A mild breeze crept across the clearing of the park, and you are left to watch as the last bird finally seemed to realize there was no more bread to share. It tilted its head at you as its amber optics were covered in a languid blink. The pigeon cooed, feathers puffing lightly as it seemed to shake out its wings. Bending down to wipe its beak across a clump of furling grass, before it abruptly stood erect once more. As if bidding you farewell it chirped lightly; then took off in a flurry of feathers and flapping wings.
Throughout your little soirée with the bread motivated creatures you had lost track of time, exhaling you slid your hand into a pocket before pulling out your phone. One cursory glance at the device unveils that it was nearing six. Oh wow, as if making its presence the center of attention once more you drug your gaze atop the book you brought along. Your original goal had been to begin reading the journal however you had been preoccupied from doing just that.
Nose scrunching you picked up the tome before weighing your options critically, you could technically begin pursuing the pages of words, but truthfully any motivation to read had dissipated the moment you had started people watching. Then there was that enlightening encounter with the kindly old woman, and even now the mere idea of enacting your original goal felt more like a hindrance rather than something even moderately enjoyable. Hyria never did give you an exact date to return the book, so you instead end up leaning up against the sturdy support of the bench. You let your head fall back in order to stare at the sky.
Squinting you observed the snail-trail pace of the wispy clouds trek against the sky all while a light breeze caressed your cheek. For a moment you decided to just bask in the soft breeze, it served as a pleasant balm to the warm tinge of your skin. Left hand twitching in your lap, your right hand's index finger tapped an unclear rhythm against the velvet like surface of the aged journal. Breath rushing through your nose you pushed off against the back of the bench, eyes angling back down at the concrete.
While you didn't want to go through with reading at the moment you also didn't feel a particular urge to leave the picturesque park just yet. Tapping the bottom of your shoe on the pavement you finally elected to stand up, arms reaching up above your head in order to stretch out your achy limbs. Having sat for so long it only made sense for you to walk around for a bit, at least until you finally went back to your house. Besides there was still much to scope out of this park's scenery, you probably had only seen a quarter of what the boundary of oak trees encircled.
Digging around in your pockets you purse your lips the moment your finger hooked around the tangle your wired earbuds had become. Huffing out loud you looked around the park for a moment ensuring no one would be around to see you hunched over the device all while manically trying to untangle it. Seeing no one around at the moment that could make a spectacle of your conundrum you finally rolled your eyes at your expense before setting to work. It takes a full five minutes to meticulously unwrap the sensitive wires from which it had basically knotted itself up. You had to hold back from wiping at your forehead as if you were just disarming a fuse or something.
Satisfied with your work you finally connect the earbuds to your phone, before blindly scrolling a thumb on the screen and tapping away at a random song. Volume amped up to a comfortable decibel you nestled one of the buds into your left ear while leaving the other one to dangle freely. Freehand wrapping around the lightweight journal you finally began down the path at a decent pace, allowing the beginning notes of what you assume to be some sort of backtrack to stream into your ear.
