Cats in Trees (Julius x Reader)

✨(y/n)'s pov✨

Walking around among the crowds of the market, you look for food to bring back to your squad. You visit different vendors around the square and check different items off your list as you go along. As you place an apple into your basket you suddenly heard an old women's scream echoing from a distance. You quickly drop some money into the vendor's hand (definitely more than was owed) and run towards the direction of the cries.

You arrive at a large forest, ready for a fight, when you suddenly see an elderly woman standing at the base of a nearby tree. As you jog closer to her, you see her red cape and her worried eyes.

"Hello, ma'am! What seems to be the problem?"

The woman pointed towards a tree and quickly pleads, "Please, you have to save my Mittens. He's gotten himself stuck again."

You turn to see a fluffy black cat that's stuck in what might be the tallest tree you've ever seen in your life. Poor thing, it looks so frightened.

You turn towards the lady with a smile, "Don't worry, Ma'am. I'll get Mitten's down safe in no time."

"Please save my baby, Magic Knight."

You walk towards the tree, knowing that your magic would have no use to you in this situation, you begin to scale the tree. Skillfully, you maneuver yourself up the tree using its branches. Each time you pull yourself up, you see Mittens fluffy fur some closer and closer into your vision. Eventually you make it up to the branch where Mittens waits. You look down towards the ground resting far below you, wondering just how this cat was able to climb so far up.

Pushing that thought away you carefully stuck your hand out towards the cat, gently speaking, "Hi, kitty. I know it must be scary for you up here, but I've come to bring you back down to your mommy again."

After sniffing your hand, the cat approaches you. Purring as it rubs against you. You smile as you scoop the cat into your arms and begin your descent down the tree. Typically you could jump down from the tree quickly with no problems at all, but you wanted to make sure Mittens was comfortable and safe. So you slowly climbed down the tree, jumping from limb to limb, talking to Mittens in order to make sure he was okay.

Once you landed on the ground, you made your way over to the woman and handed her the cat, "Here you go, ma'am. Mittens is safe and sound!"

The woman smiled at you before scurrying down a nearby alley way with her cat, "Thank you so much, Magic Knight!"

✨Julius' pov✨

I walk through the streets, disguised as an old woman. As I duck and dive through the crowds, I observe my people. Suddenly, I have a genius idea. I'll call for help and see how the Magic Knights will react!

I find a tall tree, placing a cat on a high branch and bidding it farewell before landing on the ground. I let out a cry for help and before I can even begin to yell outa second time, I see a beautiful woman run out from the square in my direction. I felt myself lose my composure as I watch her (h/c) hair flow with the wind as her (e/c) eyes held a determined gaze.

She quickly ran up to me, assessing the situation. I gave simple answers to her questions as I couldn't help but stand in awe as I took in her beauty. I watch as she gracefully climbed the tree wondering how I've never seen her before. I observe her Black Bull's cloak, noting that she must be someone new that Yami has recruited. I can't help but admire her as she gently coaxes the cat towards her, then carefully brings it to me. I feel a spark rush through my body as her hands come into contact with mine when she passes the cat to me. Unfortunately, I'm in the form of an old woman, so there's not much I can do right now. I run into the alley deciding to go back and learn more about the woman that was so swift and caring in her aid towards the Clover civillians.

✨(y/n)'s pov✨

After the woman walks into the alley, smoke begins to pour out and a man appears. Not just any man, but the Wizard Kind himself. Panicking you quickly salute/curtsy, stumbling a little. To be honest, you're not exactly sure how one is supposed to address the Wizard King.

He chuckles as he approaches you, "You can stand up, you know?"

You quickly stand up, cheeks flushed with embarrassment, "I'm sorry, Wizard King, sir."

You feel your heart beating against your chest as he gently grabs your hand from your salute, "At ease, soldier," he smirked.

Still holding your hand, he looks into your eyes and says, "You can just call me Julius."

Shocked by the informality, you look up at him, "Really, sir?"

He laughed again, "That's an order, soldier."

Smiling towards him, you respond, "Well then, you can call me (y/n)."

He stares into your eyes, gently speaking "(y/n)" under his breath, as if testing how your name feels on his lips.

You feel his grip on your hand tighten, "Well, (y/n). I'm impressed with your skills as a Magic Knight."

Cocking your brow, you look towards him confused, "I don't know what you mean sir... I mean, Julius."

His heart hammers against his chest at the sound of you speaking his name, "Your gentle and caring nature towards the subjects of the Clover kingdom is truly astounding, (y/n). You put your all into the simplest of missions, not judging the smallest of pleas."

You turn towards him, "I would exactly call it a small plea, Julius. That cat deserves love as much as any person does and that woman clearly loves her cat dearly, why wouldn't I do everything I can to help them?"

He smiles down towards you, "That's exactly what I mean, (y/n). Most people would't even stop and care the way you do. You have a good heart."

You smile up at him, "That means a lot coming from you."

Julius can't help but lose himself in your smile, wanting to preserve it and keep it with him always.

"Julius? Are you okay?"

He coughs, turning his thoughts away from the beauty of your smile

Realizing his hand has been holding yours this whole time you pull your hand out of his grasp and towards your chest, feeling your face heat up.

He lifts his hand to push a strand of hair away from your face, "(y/n), I know we have only just met, but I can't help but feel drawn to you. Please visit me whenever you see fit."

And you did. You visited the Wizard King whenever your schedule would allow. You spent so many days laughing together and many others comforting each other through hard battles and tough decisions. You often spent your time together watching the stars while holding each other close or dawning cloaks and running through the kingdom hand in hand. You visited Julius whenever you could, up until the day that he proposed to you. And even after your wedding you two continued your many adventures together.
