Taylor glanced at the clock and then at her boyfriend, Travis, who was setting out the last of the snacks on the coffee table. "Do you think we have enough chips and dip?" she asked, arranging a bowl of salsa next to the guacamole.
Travis looked up, a grin on his face. "I think we're set. Between the chips, dip, and those mini sandwiches, we're covered. Plus, Patrick and Britteney are bringing wine, and you know how everyone loves wine."
Taylor smiled, adjusting a pillow on the couch. "Yeah, that should definitely keep everyone happy. I'm just excited for a chill night with friends. It's been a while since we all got together."
Travis nodded, placing the last of the mini sandwiches on a platter. "Same here. It's gonna be great. And don't worry about seating,we'll make it work. Worst case, you can always sit on my lap." He winked at her.
Taylor chuckled, knowing he was only half-joking. The living room was cozy but lacked enough seating for all their guests. She had a feeling she might have to take him up on that offer.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. "They're here!" Taylor said, her excitement bubbling over. She hurried to the door with Travis following close behind.
When she opened the door, she was greeted by the smiling faces of Patrick and Britteney, followed by Keileigh, Miles, and Ross. Patrick held up two bottles of wine with a grin. "We come bearing gifts!" he announced.
Taylor laughed. "Perfect timing! Come on in, guys. Make yourselves at home."
As everyone filed into the living room, there were greetings and hugs all around. "The place looks great," Keileigh said, looking around appreciatively. "And those snacks look amazing."
"Thanks!" Taylor replied. "Help yourselves. We've got plenty."
As the group settled in, the limited seating quickly became apparent. The couch and the two armchairs were taken, leaving Taylor standing.
"Looks like we'll have to get creative with seating," she remarked, shooting Travis a knowing glance.
Travis nodded, a playful twinkle in his eye. "I think we're one chair short," he mused aloud, feigning a look of concern.
Taylor grinned mischievously and, with a theatrical sigh, eased herself onto Travis's lap, settling back comfortably against his chest. "Problem solved," she declared with a wink.
Patrick laughed heartily, passing around glasses of wine as he admired Taylor's ingenuity. "Always the planner, Taylor," he remarked, raising his glass in a toast. "To good friends and cozy movie nights!"
"This is cozy," she said, smiling as she made herself comfortable.
Travis wrapped his arms around her. "Always room for you," he said softly.
As Taylor settled on Travis's lap, she smoothed down her lilac skirt, trying to get comfortable. Travis tightened his arms around her waist, pulling her a little closer. She turned her head slightly and planted a gentle kiss on his cheek.
"You smell nice," she whispered, the scent of his cologne filling her senses.
Travis smiled, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "You look beautiful," he replied, his voice low so as not to disturb their friends, who were now engrossed in the movie.
The living room was filled with the soft murmur of conversations and occasional laughter as their friends enjoyed the snacks and wine. Taylor and Travis exchanged glances, their connection palpable.
