"Stop looking at me like that."
Lia was currently sat down in front of Carlos, Max, Daniel, and Charles, who all stared at her from where they stood. They tried to play it off innocently.
"Like what?" Carlos asked, shrugging casually.
"Like I'm a lost puppy."
"You're not a lost puppy," Max agreed, "You are an injured person."
Daniel smacked his side whilst Lia rolled her eyes. Charles quickly bent down and practically kneeled beside her from her position on the couch.
He offered out a plate of cookies, "And injured people like cookies."
It was Carlos' turn to smack someone as he lightly hit the back of Charles head. The action didn't seem to deter the man.
"I'll accept your cookies but not your pity," she scolded, "Now move. You're all blocking the tv."
She shooed them away and they quickly took seats beside her on the couch. Lia rested her head against Carlos' shoulder just as the doorbell rang. None of them allowed her to get up and answer, so Charles stood and did it for her.
Pierre, Alex, George, and Sebastian poured into her house. All of them had some sort of baked good in their hands. They each came and hugged her before settling either on the couch or ground in front of her.
"Lando only left for a few hours," she stated, "Not all of you had to drop everything and come over."
Pierre scoffed, "Why not? Your family went back home so you would've been here by yourself."
"Besides, it's not a race weekend," George reminded, "Which means that we didn't have anything to do today."
"Gives us an excuse to skip training," Alex joked. Lia rolled her eyes at them once more.
It had now been a week since the crash. Lando had been entirely living with her during that time and her family had been glued to her side. But they had to fly back home last night because of work and Luna's school. Allison was reluctant, but the drivers assured her she would be well looked after.
Meanwhile, Lando had been harassed by McLaren to do a few interviews. No one in the media had heard anything about the papaya pair since the statement after the Silverstone Grand Prix. The only official personal statements given were from Zak, who merely said he was forever grateful she was alive. All of the other drivers had posted on social media about the accident, wishing Lia love and prayers.
It wasn't until Charlotte, Graham, and Zak made a house call that he was forced to attend an interview today. When they visited, the trip momentarily agreed to ignore the obvious relationship that was now clear between the pair.
After some short debate, they allowed Lia more time before sharing her complete thoughts, but the media pressed for Lando's opinion. He made sure Lia had company while he was away.
Sebastian handed her a cup of coffee before settling besides Charles.
"Speaking of Lando..."
Carlos turned up the volume for the tv. All of them were set to watch the interview the man had been called to.
He was sat in front of a dozen microphones and many more reporters. They could see the flashes of the cameras bounce off his face as he leaned forward. He was noticeably not wearing an orange team kit, but rather a simple black shirt.
"Okay Lando, the first question we have is what was your initial reaction to the red flag?"
Obviously he had a script or line of reasoning he should follow. Part of him ignored the advice Charlotte gave him.
