Eve smiled slightly at Dane's cautious advice.
"Well, that could be possible."
"The new paintings he brings this time might be even more intense."
Dane seems to have the same fears as Eve.
But that was fine. Even if Rose were dangerous, as long as he wasn't a fool, he wouldn't expose that threat to Ashers.
And whether his paintings were popular or not, with Ashers as his patron, any problems would be easily remedied.
Who would dare to challenge the ideology of an artist supported by Duke Seratin?
Meeting Duke Seratin after losing her support as Countess Hound was good fortune.
Rose, who knew nothing but painting, must have been moving quickly, not wanting to miss this moment.
"Everything will be fine. Ashers is exposing the artworks."
"Yeah, that's true."
Due to this, Eve felt a significant weight lifted off her heart.
"But, you know, is there anything you want to tell me?"
"Pardon?"
"Behind the curtain, I mean."
Her heart sunk in that instant.
Dane's face, devoid of his customary smile and the significant question, caused Eve to swallow uneasily and stare at Dane.
"What do you mean...?"
Despite Eve's question, Dane stared down at her for a long time before breaking out in a cheeky smile.
"What types of paintings are there? What made the artist so confident in bringing them?"
Eve breathed a sigh of relief and answered.
"They were just ordinary collections."
"You don't expect me to believe that, do you?"
"I find it difficult to say anything. I am no longer a countess, but a baron's daughter."
Dane expressed sadness at Eve's evasive refusal.
"How about you become a countess again and tell me?"
Dane's expression brightened when Eve let out an incredulous chuckle.
"Finally, you are smiling. You didn't seem cheerful; did something happen?"
She appreciated his concern, but she couldn't tell her ex-husband about the immoral act she had committed with his son.
Eve shrugged and came up with an appropriate reason.
"It's not that something happened; it's just that this isn't a very comfortable place for me."
"Oh, was I being oblivious earlier?"
"What can you do?"
It was a calming affirmation.
Dane, feeling sorry, made a suggestion.
"I'll take care of Ashers tomorrow, while you handle Azazel. Ashers appeared really interested in you today."
"If you're going to argue, it might be better if we stick to the current arrangement."
She couldn't show him Azazel's messed-up lips.
"I'll try my best not to argue so as not to tire you."
Because the suggestion was for her benefit, claiming it was unnecessary felt weird.
Furthermore, given the state of Azazel's lips, she was unsure whether he would even come up tomorrow.
"Okay then. However, I am not sure if the young master would participate in tomorrow's schedule."
"Is he very busy?"
"He doesn't share such details with me."
Eve reacted indifferently on purpose, hastily changing the subject before any further discussion of Azazel could occur.
"But, Dane, where exactly are we?"
She'd been intrigued about this for a time.
Eve hadn't noticed because she was so caught up in the conversation, but now she realized she and Dane had wandered in circles through the same hallway.
Dane let out a hearty laugh at Eve's query.
"Hahaha, there's something I've been meaning to tell you—"
Eve narrowed her gaze, dreading what he might say.
"Please don't tell me what I think you're going to say."
"Sorry, we got lost."
She had also heard it was his first visit to this mansion, but he had boldly dismissed the maids and insisted on accompanying her himself.
She hadn't given it much attention then, but it was now catching up with them.
Eve stared up at Dane, speechless.
Despite her incredulous expression, he continued laughing.
Watching his pathetic attempt to smile made her giggle.
Finally, Eve couldn't help but chuckle, which surprised Dane.
His face made her laugh even more, wiping tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Should we just wait here for someone else to come by?"
Dane eventually removed the startled expression from his face.
"No, we should probably walk around and find some servants."
She remembered Ashers saying after dinner that there were no servants assigned to the third level, where the guests were staying, to ensure their comfort.
They'd have to find the servants themselves.
Eve sighed.
"Alright, let's try to get off this floor."
Dane looked sideways at Eve, who still had a tinge of laughter on her face as they moved down the corridor.
She asked him:
"Dane, are you usually this bad with directions?"
He cleared his throat.
"Everyone's a bit clumsy at first."
"Next time, make sure to ask the servants for directions."
