Azazel shoved Eve backward at the same time.

As she felt her body float in the air, she let out a little scream.

She closed her eyes firmly, bracing herself for the impending pain and humiliation of falling in front of Azazel, but her fall was cushioned by something soft.

'What...?'

Eve slowly opened her eyes and glanced around in confusion.

When did she get to this point?

She'd landed on her bed.

She tried to calm herself, clutching her furiously racing heart, when she heard sweet laughter close her ear.

To anyone else, it would have been a pleasant sound, but knowing it was Azazel changed the situation.

He was the source of this ridiculous predicament.

Eve raised her head, only to be met by Azazel's eyes, which looked at her as if she were adorable.

An odd sensation seized her.

It wasn't simply embarrassment from her stupid fall, but also a tinge of pleasure...

Eve promptly discarded the idea.

She clutched the bedsheet, attempting to ignore what she had just felt, but Azazel's voice drew her attention back.

"So, what about it, Eve?"

Azazel muttered seductively as she gazed at him involuntarily.

"If sex is off the table, can we do something else?"

The weird sensation she had only a moment before faded in an instant.

Azazel, ever persistent, softly broached another subject, as if asking for a reward.

"I want to kiss you."

"A kiss?"

As he smirked with the corners of his eyes, Eve's disbelieving answer seemed to go undetected, or perhaps Azazel decided to ignore it.

"Yes, that should be fine, shouldn't it? It's the same as greeting someone with a kiss, like you do with father."

It was a faulty argument.

Infidelity, in any form, was still infidelity.

Eve had no intention of causing problems in this marriage until it was entirely resolved.

Azazel intercepted her with a gesture, reading her thoughts.

"You do it without feelings all the time."

Azazel pushed his thumb against the center of Eve's lower lip.

Eve froze like a cornered victim as the gentle and exact touch traced the curve of her lip.

His grin was pleasant, and his eyelids were sweetly curved, but his transparent blue eyes were icy and gloomy when he looked at her.

Azazel's eyes smiled, clearly aware of his attention, but it wasn't enough to conceal the frost in them.

Eve questioned how Azazel knew everything.

The written contract was one thing, but the intimate aspects of a couple's relationship were something he should not have known.

What more could he have known?

And why was he furious about Eve kissing Count Hound?

Her thoughts were a swirl of turmoil.
