In some ways, they seemed like a perfect match.

"I'll treat her better if we remarry."

Dane made a clear decision.

Of course, capturing her heart was the most pressing issue.

"Perhaps I should take care of my skin. I will see Eve for two days, so I should show her a better version of myself."

Dane rang the bell on his desk to summon a servant.

Eve finished her preparations and glanced at herself in the mirror before noticing the restless maids.

"Why are you all fidgeting?"

In response to Eve's question, one of the servants, Gina, answered carefully.

"Are you indeed going to the Seratin Ducal House with Count Hound? Is that alright?"

Gina seems concerned that her mistress would become caught in the crossfire between two powerful households.

"It'll be helpful one way or another, whether it's okay or not."

Eve liked Ashers, but knowing she was Duchess Seratin made her want to stay her distance.

However, if Ashers continued being friendly, Eve couldn't reject it.

Thus, making them want to back away from Eve was the ideal plan.

Eve's first step was to bring Dane into the picture.

Ashers had accepted Dane without hesitation a few days before, but whether this would continue was unclear.

Ashers were regarded in society for being both friendly and brutal.

She gave everyone a chance but lacked the kindness to extend a second.

People frequently complained that the duchess was too severe, but Eve believed this was appropriate.

Considering her lofty standing, she was surprisingly tolerant.

Even if Eve disappointed her, Ashers would most likely quit their relationship without personal repercussions.

If Ashers removed herself from Eve, it would be beneficial.

If Eve continued her social activities in the capital, Ashers' indifference may have a considerable impact on her, but it wouldn't matter much if Eve, who planned to relocate to the countryside, where the city's influence was limited, were ignored.

Anna expressed her anxiety after noticing Eve's nonchalant expression.

"I understand you have your reasons, but I am still afraid. I know it's impolite to mention, but what if becoming engaged with such high-ranking officials leads to trouble?"

Anna became nervous after articulating her concerns, fearful of Eve's reaction.

Eve chuckled gently.

She wasn't the kind to become enraged at someone for worrying about her.

"Right. I'll be careful."

"Yes, Madame. But are you really not taking us along?"

"If I don't have to bring you, use this time to rest. With the count, everything should be fine."

Eve just spotted the activity in the garden via the glass.

The carriage had come.

The count's residence had despatched the carriage first.

After dismissing the servants, Eve strolled through the first-floor hall and noticed Dane leaving the carriage.

His welcome was as natural as if they hadn't seen each other only yesterday.

"Dane."

"You're dazzlingly beautiful today, Eve."

Eve ignored his compliment and scrutinized his face.

Regardless of the location, his face showed no hint of tension or worry.

In fact, he appeared even brighter than yesterday.

"Thank you, Dane. You look good today, too."

"It was worth the effort."

Eve's eyes widened with surprise as she witnessed his triumphant response.

"Did you prepare thouroughly?"

"Yes. Can you tell?"

His seemingly innocent smile made her laugh.

"Yes, it looks good."

"Since I've received a compliment, I'll have to give a special reward to the person in charge."

"Did you spend all of yesterday preparing?"

"I also took the time to sort out things that needed to be handled while I'd be away."

This reminded her of the Count's butler, who had been administering the House of Hound alongside them for the previous three years.

"Did the butler say anything about today's appointment?"

"He was a bit worried."

That indicated the butler had issued his regular cautions, making Eve smirk as she looked behind him.

It appeared that the Count had only brought one coachman with the carriage.

"You didn't bring any servants with you. Wasn't it mentioned not to bring any?"

"...Well, yes."

Eve had not expected Dane to agree so quickly and swallowed her remark.

She had expected Dane to be as combative with the Ducal House of Seratin as he was with Azazel.

However, based on Dane's current attitude, he appeared to have no major grievances against Ashers.

Is he on good terms with the Ducal House?

It appeared that he had a negative relationship with the Emperor and wasn't on good terms with Azazel, but the fact that he was fine with Ashers and the Ducal House itself was perplexing.

This and Ashers' receptive attitude toward Dane complicated the matter even further.

It was a complex connection.

'Why is he on terrible terms with Azazel?'

While Eve was thinking about the relationship between the Count and the Ducal House, a carriage from the House of Seratin arrived.

Fortunately, the carriage did not display the Ducal House symbol, which would have drawn undesired attention.

Following the carriage, a luggage cart gradually stopped in front of the mansion.

The Seratin's servant, who alighted from the carriage when he saw Eve, showed no perplexity when he saw Dane and expertly loaded his bags into the luggage cart.

Eve politely accepted Dane's escort inside the carriage.

Dane sat opposite her, and the coachman drove away with practiced ability.

"Is there anything I should be particularly mindful of?"

"Are you worried?"
